Suboxone Withdrawal Causing Pain

Updated

I was taking Suboxone for 6 months and I recently just stopped taking this medication. I received terrible flu like symptoms with terrible pains in my legs and thighs. I must preface that, that I do have a back disorder {spinal stenosis} but I feel since I stopped Suboxone I am in more pain than ever before. Please advise

It's probably too late now but what you were experiencing is withdrawl from suboxone. It has the same type of withdrawal that other opiates do, it just isn't quite as bad I've heard. Anyway, hope you got through it! Take care!

What would be the best way to detox off Heroin, without going to an in patient setting, or replacing with Suboxone, or methadone. I'm tired of the usual treatment for addict by replacing another drug + keeping me on a back shelf with no self esteem, only to find myself back to where I started. I recovered from addiction for a number of years without any drugs + my life was wonderful. Now I'm 56 years old + everyday I live in regret for picking up that first one. Nobody there to help me. I live in NYC, where most people have no compassion + think that the only way out is another dependency. Why in the world would I want to stay on another drug, to find myself with a worse problem. I want a solution not a long time replacement. Please help me to find a rational reality.

In regards to the original post, a sudden cessation of such a medication not only causes withdrawal symptoms, but it also causes a rebound effect, which may result in your pain being much worse.

If you were taking it for a long time, then it may take a month or so for it to fully wear off, as your body readjusts to no longer having the medication.

Marie, did you ever find a solution?

Ok so I've been taking Suboxone for a little over a year and not at high levels, at my peak, an 8mg tablet would last me more than a week. So four days ago I took my last dose after tapering to .25 or less per day. I still have a full tablet just in case but have no desire to continue. I have had a rough time sleeping, mild RLS for the past 2 nights, otherwise I feel pretty good. My energy level is lower and I get hot flashes and chills from time to time, nothing unbearable.

So here's my question - it's now been 3 whole days since I've had my last dose. I recently moved to a new state and am looking for work, well I'm feeling very fatigued today and have an interview and want to be sharp and alert for it. I'm contemplating taking another .125-.25 dose just to get thru? My concern is that it will set me back and I'll have to relive the past few days of WD symptoms . Or will just one small dose curve my wd for today and allow me relief and not set me back to the beginning.

I realize lots of people have it way worse and took large doses, please don't knock my small amounts. I just don't want to make the mistake of starting at day 1 again. Thank you in advance to anyone with GOOD advice!
