Phentermine Anyone Have Strange Side Effects? (Page 10)

I just started taking this medicine for weight loss. I am having hot flashes and cold chills, terrible headache and a tingly head. I feel awful. Has anybody taken this and had the same reaction? If so did it pass after a few days? Gotta say this...I am not ever hungry! Like to hear from anyone that has taken this med. Thanks :)

Dark circles under the eye is a sign of kidney issues. Drink at least a gallon of water a day (or more)

I have been on phentermine for 15 days now... I am a 20 year old woman, 5'7" and my start weight was 188.7 lbs. The first few days of taking phentermine were great, I had high energy, no hunger or cravings. By the 5th day, I had zero energy, I got winded by walking ten feet, my vision goes blurry, sometimes I see bright neon lights, other times its just black. I can't catch my breath, my heart rate is always up, hot flashes all the time, I get dizzy and nauseated throughout the day. My ears won't pop, I have some knots at the base of my skull and they are causing headaches, I have had a tooth ache for the past 5 days, I am more easily irritated, my hands and feet and face occasionally will go numb, and I feel like I just can't for words into sentences or thoughts when I am speaking. So, I'm 15 days in, I weighed myself this morning at 171.1 lbs. So I've lost about 17 pounds in about two weeks. In the first week, I lost 14 pounds alone, this week was slower so that's good. Anyone have any suggestions of what foods to eat that help the most with all the side effects? And no matter how much water I drink, my mouth is always dry too!

Since taking phentermine I have developed a weird habit. I have begun sucking on my own tongue. This is driving me crazy, not to mention making my tongue blistered and very sore. Has anyone else experienced involuntary or strange tongue activity while on this drug? Suggestions, please??

It's weird you said that about your tongue, because I've noticed I can't stop making tiny bubbles with the saliva in my mouth when I take phentermine. I get hot flashes, and a tingly head also. I've noticed I can' speak clearly too.

My Doctor put me on phentermine and I took my first one today 01/25/15 I also got cold chills no headache & no hot flashes yet. I felt crapy all day I was hoping for some energy instead I felt tired and sluggish. Good Luck

yes i am having same effects. i am taking phentermine 3.5 since Sept 2014 till now Jan 2015. tingley head and hotflashes and headache and coldfeet. my heart felt like pounding so fast i thought i wa having heart attack.

Hi. I used to take those meds and those symptoms you're having seems pretty common because if you read all the comments those are the symptoms people are having. My only symtom on phertermin was anxiety attacks and that's why I stopped taking them. I only took half a pill and I didn't stay on them long. I also got dry mouth which gave me horrible breath. If you're taking 37.5 mg try cutting it in half. Stop taking it if your symptoms worsen.

I eat fruits and vegetables all day and I love it, I drink water and juice all day also, and I eat Ice and take my fish oil pills and I'm good I was 238 now I'm 193 in just 3 weeks....

Yes I have noticed I also sucks on my own tongue which is weird and it's like I sick my tongue real close to my teeth and also grind my teeth a lot.

tried 37.5 also and very unpleasant side effects. GP switched me to Belviq and no side effects in fact slept better and lost desire to smoke too. Down 11 lbs in 3 weeks from 256 to 245 and completely quit smoking. Feel amazing!

I started taking this Thursday and have lost six pounds. I suffer from migraines and found it actually helped my headaches go away. Only side effects I've really had is sweating (ugh) and dry mouth (frequently). I don't mind the dry mouth as this gives me a better excuse to drink more water than I ever did before. I find that I'm actually making healthier choices of eating too. Although I do feel hunger at times during the day BUT it doesn't take much to fill the void. I'm eating about a third to half of what I ate before. The only thing left is for me to do is start exercising as I know this is a kick start for weight loss not a continuous regimen.
I also suffered from being tired all the time. I get anemic from time to time. So being that this helps with lethargy I'm benefiting in many ways. This drug has not affected my sleep patterns but has improved them. I'm looking forward to losing more weight and have found that I no longer really want sweets either. All around I'm happy with the results thus far. I hope this helps others as it has helped me.

I had great results first 3 days with my appetite being curbed...now I want to eat just as I normally did. So frustrating... I dont eat just tons but I do snack..still eating a bit smaller meals and nothing after 6pm. My question is..will I still lose weight if I keep eating as I was before..I thought this is to curb my appetite. I did talk to a lady that said she never changed her eating habits but lost weight anyway. My energy level had been up...but today I'd love a nap. I'm not like most people..meds do not work the same on me as they do others..I'm having no side effects and I sleep fine. Any thoughts??

I have been on phentermine for a week and i lost 13 lbs so far. But for the last couple of days I have been having trouble urinating. I would only pee just a little bit with a slow flow and dont ever get the urge to go. I have to make myself go.
any suggestions.

Hi Jen,
I've been on Phentermine for 17 days and have lost 10 lbs. I know I couldn't have lost the weight without it. The first day I took it, I didn't fall asleep until 4:30 in the morning and was feeling depressed and lethargic for a couple days. I'm over those symptoms, but I don't feel like myself during the day. It's not until it wears off in the evening that I start feeling like myself. In the morning, I feel great, until I take the pill and the cycle starts all over again. A chronic symptom I feel is dry mouth and I'm constantly chilled. I have to wrap a blanket around me at night before I get under the covers. I'm looking forward to not taking Phentermine any more, but scared at the same time because I don't want to go back to the feeling of being on a diet and hungry all the time. Right now, I don't mind being on a diet at all. I eat what I want keeping healthy food in mind and always end up eating under 1,200 calories. I just hope I can keep it up once I'm off Phentermine. I have strange side effects. I feel like theres a lump un the base of my throat. Its not actually visible but it feels like someone is pressing lightly on my throat right above my collarbone. Also i clench my jaw to the pount of pain and it causes me to chew on the insuide if my cheeks and side of my tongue. Another weird one is i scratch my scalp absent mindedly. It doesn't itch byt i catch myself "picking" and scratching my scalp sometimes. Is anyone else having these issues? ?

Yes I have the hot and cold flashes and that doesn't go away but the head and other funny feelings normally means that you may need a lil more food.When I eat something I feel a lot better and drink lots more water

also you guys can try taking a half of the pill instead of the whole that way your not getting the full strength.try that for a week until your body gets use to it then try the full dosage

I started taking phentermine on April 14,2015. I was prescribed 37.5mg. I've been on it for four days now. My start weight was 155lbs (with clothes on) and I'm currently now 144 (with clothes off). So I have lost 11lbs in four days which I heard is majority water weight. My ultimate goal weight is to be 135lbs. The first day I took half a pill around 8am and the other at 11:30am as recommended by the doctor. I had a lot of energy and no appetite as well as insomnia. No bad or severe side effects as of day one. Day two I took the pill whole. My symptoms were the same as day one but my hormones changed and my libido began to increase lol. So that was a plus for my husband lol. On day 3 everything continued to be the same, especially the no appetite but I became very tired which was unusual compared to the first 2 days but I assume it was due to the lack of food since I barely ate as well as my water consumption which was minimal. Day four started off as usual but this time I ate 2 fruits for breakfast and consumed 1.9L of water within a 8hr time window. When I got home from work I instantly felt the need to rest so I did for 30mins. Afterwards I had a small bowl of shrimp and broccoli. Later on that night I went jogging/walking for 20mins. I felt GREAT! It wasn't until after I showered and went downstairs and began to drink some ice cold water til my vision became blurry and dark I felt as if I was about to pass out! It was the most scariest and helpless moments I've ever felt. I thought I was dying/drifting off. Everything just went dark and my body felt so weak. My vision came back and I could just feel my heart beating quickly, I was sweating and shaking. My husband laid me down and helped me finish my water. Based on reviews I read that in a circumstance like that go to the hospital, stop taking the medicine and contact your doctor. I plan to contact my doctor first thing tomorrow morning. I'm not sure if I will continue taking this since I had that episode until I consult with my doctor and figure out exactly what the issue is. After reading several reviews and just looking back on the last few days I think it may have been due to lack of nutrients and water which is very important while on this medicine. So if your taking this please drink a lot of water and try to eat something and if you can't drink protein shakes or yummy smoothies. I hope nothing is wrong with me so pray for me.
