as a former pill addict when you take suboxone it makes you feel normal like how you did before you were addicted to pain medication it gives you a bit of energy and takes away the sickness it will most certainly help and withdrawl will take effect in as little as 12 hours after your last dosage and if you do cold turkey expect a very miserable month ahead of you.. coldsweats, shaking, vomiting, headaches, sleeplessness.. i'd suggest taking suboxone long enough to stop withdrawl symptoms, but realize suboxone is addictive also.. but withdrawl symptoms are not as bad.. i hope this helps you

I currently started on a Suboxone program on the 3rd of this month & cannot tell you just how much this drug has helped me! I was addicted to pain killers for about a yr & a half & I knew my addiction had to sometime so I was referred to a dr. at a local Urgent Care & from then on it was history.. :) It was explained to me what I would be going through with no gaurantees on how I'd feel. He did tell me however that most of the patients he's treated with Suboxon were treated & were completely clean & off the drug within 3 months! There were guidlines I had to go by & and he wanted to moniter my induction for about 4 days but I did SO well after just 2 that he let me go ahead & schedule the next appt. with him for a week from the day I started my induction. I didn't mind in the least. I agreed to be drug tested if requested EVERY time I came in to see him. I agreed to not ingesting or taking any other medicine unless it was an OTC, for pain. All this is ok people because if you really indeed care about your life then you will do just about anything to stop the destruction you've put your poor body through. Ive felt absolutely fine as far as withdrawels. In fact, I went in to his office a quivering, chilled, sweating, vomiting mess. I left after about 1hr/half feeling like the old me. That was at the dose of 16mg to start. If I do well then next Mon. hes going to start reducing my med. to 12mg for a week & less & less evey week untill Im weaned off. This man saved my life. I know I play a role with following a stringent program but like I said, it was either this program or death. The latter wasnt an option. I have too much to lose.My family & most important, my life. Good luck everyone with following through with this regimen if its what you choose. However, I would not choose a dr. who thinks its necessary for you be put on this drug for yrs or months & months at a time. Thats not true. Like any other drug, with Suboxone there is still the issue with addiction & my doctor told me this. Thats why he told me to be prepared to start weaning off as soon as a few weeks went by.
