Noticing A Change In Weight

Hey all, I'm very new to taking topamax and wondered how long it'd be until I'd notice a weight loss? Any answer would be appreciated.

Since this isn't actually a straight weight loss medication, which means that weight loss is just a side effect, it may take about 4 to 6 weeks for you to start seeing a difference, if it works for you.

Typical side effects of this medication, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, diarrhea, indigestion and rapid back and forth eye movements.

I was wondering the same thing. 4 years ago I weighed between 110-120 lbs at 5'3, but then while working as a nurse I was attacked by a patient. Over the past 4 years I've had 7 surgeries and gained close to 60 lbs. Nothing I tried to lose weight seemed to work. I just started Topamax 50 mg at night 4 days ago and while I've yet to get on a scale I have noticed some significant changes in my lifestyle. First I haven't slept this well in years! I would wake up at least twice a night and binge eat every single night, and I haven't woken up once since my first dose. Second, after a 15 year 6-12 can a day diet soda addiction I haven't had a soda in 4 days. I took 2 sips the morning after I started, it tasted gross. Tried again the next morning, I said I was addicted, I poured it down the drain and threw the case away. I am eating SIGNIFICANTLY less than I have in years! I am more hopeful than I can remember being in a very long time!
