Metoprolol Succ Er And Metoprolol Tab Tar (Top voted first)

Updated

have been on toprol xl (non Generic)
for 11 yrs., presc. coverage changed, size of pills discontinued, etc, took metoprolol succ er for 1 month, with no side effects.

Taking metoprolol TAB TAR for 8 wks, last four wks, EXTREMELY FATIGUED, some heart palps, just not right, Cardio. wants me to stop taking completely despite all warings not to do that, and without prescribing anything different.

Is there a difference bet the tyes of metotropol which could be causing me to feel so awful?

I was on Flecanaide and metoporol together felt AWFUL. doc said to stop the flecanaide and now on 12.5 metoporol.morning & night.have had all the tests, no blocked arteries, chest ultra sounds & monitor all ok. Put on 6kg with the medication in a short period of time and am now wondering whether i can take the " green coffee bean extract " to lose some weight as it apparently has less caffeine that a cup of coffee and there seem to be no side effects?

My Husband was taking that after a stroke and weeks later became the same way you did and he was pale, fagitue and when he went to the doctors come to find out his blood pressure was extreamly Low and Stopped Meds Cold Turkey and Has Felt and Looked So Much Better Not All Meds Need To Be Weaned I Recommed You To See Your Regular Doctor and See What Your Blood Pressure Is Then If He Says Stop It Then Stop It I Don't Believe There Is A Real Bad Side Affect From Stopping It

If you have been on it for a long period of time, as in the years described in the post, this med MUST be weaned down to stop taking it. Stopping it abruptly can cause severe blood pressure problems or even a heart attack.

I also have to agree with Judy, it seems you may have been given the regular release medication, when what you were on was a time released formulation. Thus, your dosing is not the same and you can experience some withdrawal effects.

Please make sure your cardiologist knows that this medication must be tapered to stop, it is even posted in the monograph that you receive from your pharmacy, show him that if you have to.

My mother is taking 50 mg of metoprolol twice daily and now they have put her on Coreg too. I am very concerned about the side effects of both. She fell last week and fractured 2 ribs. Could this of caused the fall because of side effects of the combined drugs?

Yes, there is a big difference. Looks like you were taking a form that is long-acting and were switched to one that is not. As a rsult, you begin to have symptoms after the TAR wears off that you were not experiencing before. PS. Never come off this drug cold-turkey. If your cardiologist is recommending that you should find a new one.
