Inadequate Pain Control

Updated

I am curious if anyone knows a pain clinic in Stanislaus County CA, or Dr. who will prescribe adequate amounts of pain medication. I have Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Spina bifida, arthritis, etc. I have had chronic intractable pain for years. I can only get 15mg morphine 3Xday, and I might as well not take any at all. Now I am suffering from severe depression and am losing interest in everything I used to love due to the constant pain.

By the way, these Doctors and P.A.'s like to tell patients it's the DEA's fault. Actually, several years ago, the FDA came out with a narcotic "guideline" for prescribing meds. They lowered the amounts usually given for chronic intractable pain, so low that most patients were no longer adequately medicated. The "guidelines" frightened the insurance companies, who then put pressure on Doctors to no prescribe correct amounts of narcotics to patients. The DEA came into the picture when they were pressured to enforce the "guidelines." We need to get our legislators to ensure that intractable pain patients get what they need to control pain.
