Hydrocodone 80 Mg
Updatedmy primary Dr. who i trust a lot told me there was such a thing as 80mg of hydrocodone with no acetaminophen in it and that i shouldn't be taking any acetaminophen because it is causing my liver to be damaged even more than it is. i suffer from severe pain daily and need my pain killers to help manage my pain. I have never heard of 80 mgs of hydro's and would like to know if this is correct before i go and ask my pain management doctor about this. i need to know if this is correct,or that he messed up and meant is say that the are 80mgs of oxycodone with no acetaminophen. please clarify for me.

Post #1 is correct. 80mgs of hydrocodone does exist. I just wanted to add that Zohydro is an extended release version of hydrocodone by itself. There's also another brand of extended release hydrocodone called Hysingla, which is reportedly available in 80mg, 100mg, and 120mg dosages. When choosing between the two, it probably just comes down how your body responds to each set of binders and fillers that directly affect things like bioavailability/metabolization, etc. But trial and error is the only way to know for certain what works and what doesn't.
All in all, I agree with your doctor that limiting acetaminophen is a good thing. Natural alternatives such as turmeric have also gained a better reputation than tylenol for pain relief minus the serious side effects. Perhaps some form of adjunctive therapy would be worth discussing with your doctor if hydrocodone alone isn't sufficient?
Please keep us posted on how the higher dose works out for you...
Zohydro ER and Hysingla ER are both new meds and they are both very expensive. Hysingla has Abuse-Deterrent Properties, Zohydro Er doesn't. Most insurance companies won't pay for Zohydro because it is so expensive. I have heard from several people, including a close friend of mine, that Hysingla has a coupon that will help with the cost.
