How Long Before Testopel Pellets Start Working? (Page 25)

Updated

Just had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.

Well today was my day, I had 12 pellets inserted four hours ago and still have no pain. I had to look in mirrow st see where he did it. The doctor had repeated my T levels. They were 200 when taken in the morning, but 150 three weeks later in the afternoon. He feels the 12 will get me above 600, which he will test in 2 months. He also ran a test on my pituitary function and put me on 1\2 tablet of clomid. My levels of LH, and SCH (I may have the letters wrong) were zero. The side effect of clomid will prevent your testicals from srinking. I will keep updating any changes I feel.

George -- first of all, I was not aware of CLOMID and the purpose for taking it. I have been on the shots or TESTOPEL now for almost five (5) years with none of that CLOMID. I have but one (1) testicle because one was removed in 2010 because of an extreme prostate infection that couldn't be controlled and somehow "ate into" the left testicle which had to be removed. Having been on the TESTOPEL for this extended period of time with no CLOMID (never had heard of it), my remaining right testicle has shrunk to almost pea-size, I'm guessing. I am NOT -- in any way -- complaining because I get so much benefit from the implantations as far as mood, energy, etc. But, my Doc will only give me (10) and I have to pay for four (4) of them because of insurance restrictions. So I pay $300.00 each time I get the implantation. But, as I said, I don't hesitate. Sure do wish I could hear if anyone else has experienced a high hemoglobin number due to this procedure. Am to go in tomorrow for a repeat of the labwork, as if correct, the doc is apparently going to put me on a regimen of giving blood OFTEN to reduce the RED blood cells that are accumulating. That, apparently can both increase chances for cardiac incidents as well as chronic fatigue. I HAVE been feeling tired for no apparent reason, so perhaps everything will be straightened out soon. I wish you well, George and any soreness you may (or may not have) will be most likely tomorrow. Bit of advice: depending on WHICH SIDE Doc implanted them, be careful SLIDING into your car seat. That has given me problems in the past for a few days. Take care, my friend and keep us all posted as to your progress.

I have always had high hemoglobin, runs between 16 and 19. I give blood every 3 months which keeps it in normal to high normal range. In my case it is a genetic overproduction. I also always feel better after giving blood, but thought it was just because I was doing something good. The red cross always needs blood, calling often to see if I can come in. I have to wait a few weeks now, but gave two weeks ago so is not a problem. On the clomid the Dr said it might kick start my own production again, than followed up it will also keep your testicles from drinking. I liked both ideas. My insurance covered the full process. I got 12, at first he had said he would try 16, the change, I suspect, was to keep me from going from very low T levels to high levels. Been 6 hours and still no pain LOL, he placed them high over my hip. I think this will make it easier on me.

Day one after the first 12 pellets inserted is normal. I would rate pain on a team point scale as a 1 if that. Any other changes which I did notice has to be in my head. Joints seemed to move easier this AM. Most mornings I get up with a stiff knee that takes a bit to get moving with out pain. Today it was normal from touchdown on the floor. Could T levels help joints? The slight discomfort from the pellets is nothing. Sleep last night seemed better but I did notice I sweated nor than normal. I think this may be T related, might be because I piled the covers on for our first hard freeze outside also. One other note which caught me off guard is my insurance covered the full cost of the pellets all 12. Makes me wonder if they don't know it will stop all these little joint pains.

This pad sure changes the spelling on what I write. Sorry about the strange words in last post. I have noticed my attention to people walking at Duke University zeroed in on those wearing tights and shorts. There are a lot more of them out today than last week and today was in the 20's. Something is working lol. Still low pain level. A one out of ten on my pain scale. I think I already feel the difference.

Just a quick reply to you today, George! I'm so happy that you are experiencing only positives w/ implantation. As for insurance restrictions, it appears, it depends on the individual insurance company. I am happy you are covered for the full #. Yayy! I can't speak to whether T-level can affect joints or not, but whether or not in your head or 'for real', enjoy it my friend. Take care, and please keep us updated. It's good inspiration for others on this site to hear of the successes. (Hey! Don't eat too much turkey on Thursday -- that won't be good on those joints, you know!) *grin* Sorry -- couldn't resist!

Haven't been on here in awhile, but I've worked in pellet therapy (not testopel) for 5 years, but am now working in a different field. To answer the question on joint pain, yes! Testosterone will stimulate progenitor cells in cartilage as well as acting as a lubricant. The lubricant can also apply to cardio health in a good way. BUT, to start experiencing results this soon are very unusual. It takes around 24 hours for your body to build a pouch of capillaries around the pellets in order for them to be absorbed into the blood and delivered to cells. Most men began to feel results in 7-10 days. There is also the possibility of a placebo effect, but since you didn't know that improves joint pain was a benefit, I think we can rule that out! Congratulations on making the choice for pellet therapy, many benefits, both in those symptoms you recognize and the long term benefits, that are not so recognizable!

Day 2, and still not enough pain to notice. The only thing I cut out was the hot tub for a few days. I am noticing a difference in mood, and morning wood and it is only day two. Seem to be sleeping better too, but still wake up sweating. I think this is just the hormone base line changing. Energy level is up, and for some reason my bad knee is doing better. I don't think it has to do with the Tesopel, but did change after day one.

Your improvement continues! If you're not feeling significant pain by today, I'm thinking you most likely won't. I DID notice the increase in sweating when I first started the implantations years ago, but no longer. Yes, morning wood occurs within first day or so and also noticed an increase in nipple sensitivity. Keep enjoying and have a good 'turkey day'.

If you experience nipple sensitivity or breast tenderness that is an indicator that your estrogen levels are a little high. To relieve the discomfort you can take oil of evening primrose. A supplement that can be found at most drug stores.

Thanks Ginger! This won't -- in any way -- take away the positive effects of the TESTOPEL treatment?

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I've noticed you many times have positive, helpful suggestions to those on this site. We are grateful for your input!

No, it shouldn't affect your testosterone levels....BUT, I would ask your practitioner to run your estrogen levels 4 weeks post insertion. You want your Est to Test ratio to be less than 10%. If higher than that, you may experience mood swings, weepy, overly sensitive as well as the nipple sensitivity. Treatment would be DIM (supplement) or Femara or Arimidex (prescription) which can block the conversion of Test to Est. This event is known as aromatization.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

It may be in my head, but my mood, even in stressful work situations, is much better. I did not even get frustrated with long lines at the DMV, or the agent having to do everything twice. I had forgotten how this really picks your mood up. It has now been a full 48 hours, and any pain that was there is gone. Never was much. With 12 pellets the Doctor hopes to get my levels over 600. He said it would take 7 days to reach a steady level. If that level in seven days continues to ramp up my mood, they may find me running an Iron Man or mountain climbing. This is hands down already a winner for me.

Awesome!!! Testosterone, increases the serotonin and dopamine in your brain which gives you that feel good calming effect!!

End of day three. (Thanksgiving day) Still no pain, bandage came off on its own today. I don't see a lot of discoloration, just a spot where the needle went in. I feel a lump where the pellets run in a V pattern. Still all positive results, and feeling better every day.

You are INDEED one of our most positive 'success stories', George! I'm assuming your 'turkey day' went well, too. Take care -- you've passed any potential problem stage now; just watch getting in and out of the car. Talk to you soon.

Day 4: Energy level is up, today was wall to wall work with physical activity that would have kicked my butt a week ago. Libido continues to climb even after a successful morning event. I think the one thing I need to watch is not trying too much physical work too fast. I may feel 20 again, but it will take some time to get this 6 decades body back in shape. Mood is sky rocketing. This was one of my biggest concerns. I had reached the "I don't care" mode, which even I did not like. Now back to the "I will fix it mode". I never felt this way on shots or jells. It is all around better and I am just on day 4!

Ah-hhhhhh George! You make me smile as I read your post. Good for you. Glad the implants have done for you what you were hoping for. Your 'morning event', I'm guessing' will increase in frequency as you reach the 4-WEEK level, even. I'm anxious to hear from Doc this next week as he had me repeat my labwork re: Hemoglobin level of 19. I've been so "tired" and unexplainedly (such a word?) so. There is an oft-related relationship to high hemoglobin in this range to people feeling extremely fatigued. Also some relationship to high hemoglobin in this range and making of kidney stones. Since I just had my 15 and 16th stone 2 months ago, requiring cystoscopy, I'd be happy to get on a program of "blood letting" on a regular basis if it will help resolve these two (2) issues. Keep a truckin',George .... enjoy the benefits. Take care ~ ~

Day 5, Was a long day, and I never seemed to lag or get tired. Was driving a motor home from 8:45 this AM till 7:30 this evening. Had a midway break to visit with family, and have lunch, but the rest was rolling down the interstate while people slept in the back. I am still wired at 8:30 but may be due to the coffee at 5:00. Energy levels seem full speed. I have also noticed a change in the oil levels of my skin. Hard to discribe, but skin looks smother and maybe thicker on my hands. Has to be the pellets or something I have been eating. I don't use any skin products.
Bob, when you see your Dr see if he is OK with giving blood. It always makes me feel better. I try to keep mine between 14 and 16. If you are over 19 the red cross will not take it. Not sure about other groups. I give every 90 days, and on the few times I had doctor visits within a week or so would have hemoglobin about 14. Still a little high, but much better than 18.

Thanx for the tip re: blood, George! Will definitely check with him as soon as possible. Ball's in HIS court right now, waiting for him to get back to me after the labwork. Again ............ your comments regarding your day of driving etc. ....... all sounds great with results. Never noticed any skin difference, but I'm of the belief that every person is a bit different with all medications and procedures. What is normal for one person .......not necessarily normal for another. Take care ~~
