Just had Testopel pellets inserted in my backside. Forgot to ask doctor how long until they take effect. He's out of town.

Hi Gentlemen.

Is anyone's doctor indicating that there is a backlog of nearly a month to get Testopel pellets? My doctor has dragged his feet through this process and I'm honestly not sure whether to believe him or is this just another one of his excuses. Thanks for any feedback.

Albert -- I ran into this problem last fall. As I understood it, doc said he could go to another distributor if he had to, but would rather not. As he continued his efforts to obtain it, he gave me an injection which helped for two (2) weeks and by that time, he had the TESTOPEL. I hope you can resolve your problem soon. Good luck, buddy.

gopal ~ ~ Only once did I have soreness that severe. Usually, it is but a few days. I mentioned it to Doc that one time and he said he would make sure to implant a bit 'higher' on hip, so not sitting on it. The pressure is what causes the pain. He has done that ever since and I have not been bothered by it. I hope this helps.

James,

I'm 65, on my first round of 10 Testopel pellets. 3 weeks and nothing great to report, except weight gain of 10lbs. Going for labs this week. But to your experience with sublingual testosterone enanthate. I found the site on the Web and I'll concede that it's intriguing. However, you said you were taking 6grams of T daily. That's 6000mg! I know that had to be an error and perhaps you addressed it down the line.

You didn't mention your age, so please post that, along with how the protocol is going. Wish you the best with it.

Mark ~ ~ The one (1) thing I found especially interesting in your post was the fact that you had a weight GAIN !!!! I find I have more energy, mood improves as well as libido. In general, my reactions to the TESTOPEL implantations are positive. I also realize that with all medications, patient response is individual. There isn't a 'right' or 'wrong'. There are some general expectations, but even then, there can be variances. BTW: I am 69 and have been on the TESTOPEL pellets for five (5) years, since the removal of a testicle due to extensive damage from prostate infection. Hope this helps ......

Bob,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I read many of your posts and indeed, you're one of those men who has experienced significant improvements from Testopel. I'm not writing it off. Once my doctor and I go over the labs in about a week, we'll have a real time picture of how I'm responding and in particular, what's my E2 level.

I'll post my results when they're available.

Post Testopel four week labs: TT: 1086 FreeT: 742(Yes!!!) E2: 57 DHT: 38 SHBG:29

Libido has improved but after a couple of weeks, nothing more. Pretty quiet below the waist. I was taking 100mcg Anastrazole per week but then switched to pregnenolone, 500mg, daily, to improve thyroid and adrenal function, along with raising progesterone, which opposes estrogen/estradiol. Lost about 5 lbs. of water weight, gained some muscle.

With those lab numbers, my doctor thought my libido should be bouncing off the wall. He's on board with me trying pregeneolone to see if it will reboot my HPTA but its been malfunctioning for so long that it might take a year or two to see any results.

Hey guys- I've a new 'wrinkle' I'm dealing with. Got my ten (10) pellets inserted last week and day after in ER with kidney stone!!! It's not a new experience for me as this is my 17th kidney stone. All have been calcium oxalate. Cystoscopy scheduled for 2 weeks as doc wants me to have opportunity to get rid of it first. Unfortunately I'm losing the expected/counted on benefits from pellets because of discomfort from stone. Anyone else ever have other health issues that have diminished the usual good pellets provide?

Mark -- good to hear about your results. I've been wondering how you're doing. I've forgotten your age. It seems to me that something is still missing. Have we talked about DAILY Cialis? I had BPH and after trying some other things, Doc put me on the DAILY Cialis. It has helped "piggyback" with the pellets. If you look into that, you can get a FREE 39-day trial. Something to consider --

Bob,

I was going to respond to your post earlier but I've been working out of town the past couple of months most of the time. It took me 6 weeks to get my incision site to quit bleeding. My doctor put me on an antibiotic but it didn't appear as if there was any infection. There was only blood coming out and nothing else. After six weeks it heals and the next week pellets start coming to the surface and I ended up losing 6 of them within a week and then my incision site closed off and seemed to be fine. Two weeks went by and we headed to Florida and I took a look at it one day and I could tell a pellet was trying to poke thru my skin. It poked thru my skin and I lost 2 pellets that week. I got back home and I'm basically at 2 months post pellets implantation. I got my blood drawn and had a follow-up appointment with my urologist the following week and told him the whole story over again and he told me that he has never heard such a thing. He said people usually lose pellets within the first couple weeks and its generally due to an infection. He gave me a 400mg shot of testosterone while waiting for my next implantation which is this coming Tuesday morning. Last night I was mowing and came home to take a shower and looked down and I noticed another pellet was coming out and it did of course. This past round has been quite an experience to say the least. I do take the 5mg daily Cialis for BPH and it works wonders to say the least for me. We finally got insurance approval for 20 pellets and I pay right at $200 out of pocket which isn't bad at all. This time he said he was going to try to put them a little deeper than he did last time and hopefully I won't have any problems. I've had this procedure done 5 times by this doctor and I really like him. He is really down to earth and seems to really care about his patients. The only reason it took me longer to get approval this time from Blue Cross was because they required a blood test early morning and I had gotten my blood drawn in the afternoon and that delayed prior authorization process. I asked my doctor a few days ago about a shortage of pellets and he said he hasn't heard of one. Not sure if that is just a regional thing or what but I know people on here are from all parts of the country. I wrote this very fast but just wanted to give you an update on my last round. I feel confident this next round will be fine.

Brian ~ You are CERTAINLY going thru some very difficult things. Losing pellets is not only disappointing, but expensive, also. A guy goes in for a procedure he NEEDS and is hoping for the results that he has expected in the past and then this happens. I've not heard before of losing pellets at such a late date. The antibiotics was a safety precaution, I'm sure. As for me, I've been on an antibiotic of one kind or another (Doc switches every so often) for 5+ years. As you most likely remember, the prostate infection in 2010 became so "fierce" that it 'ate thru' my LEFT testicle and it needed to be removed. Thus, I remain on antibiotic to try and keep this infection 'at bay'. I have never been without infection since then. Am really glad your Doc gave you the testosterone injection to help you over the hump until you could get the pellet implantation again. Sounds like a good man. Keep him. You mentioned Doc saying he was going to put them in a bit deeper than before. Yes, my Doc does 'deeper' and also 'higher' up to the very top part of my buttocks, probably about 2 1/2 inches below my beltline, I would guess. It is not unusual for me to 'flinch' when Doc puts in my first pellet, as he is trying to find the VERY DEEPEST he can go when implanting. I also do not remove my square waterproof covering for about ten (10) days after implantation. No water gets in and unless I would make a conscious effort to remove, it stays that length of time without problem. Unless your skin is sensitive to the adhesive, I would consider doing this. Take care, my friend. I'll keep checking in to see how you're doing. In the meantime, I'm going to concentrate of getting rid of this kidney stone, as the last time I had a Cystoscopy (2009), it was one of he worst surgeries I've had, including my TESTICLE REMOVAL.

I just got Testopel and I'm not experiencing any of the symptoms where they injected the pellets. I keep forgetting I got it, and it was quick. Not sure if I'm feeling it yet, but we started with six pellets and I was taking the Max dose of Axiron (four pumps). Gonna see how it goes and explore Natesto (the nasal solution) if I'm not happy. I don't want to freak out about when I touch people and the gels have that waning.

I just got a testosterone pellet injection today. 75 mg. Is that a high amount ? How long before I start feeling the affects of the testosterone? I was on the cream but it didn't really seem to do much for me.

Good luck Nalts with your new method of increasing your deficiency. As I've often said in posts, you can have three (3) guys getting the same dosage of ANY medication and have three (3) different results. It is a very personal thing. But, I DO hope that you find the TESTOPEL helpful for you.

I'm counting the days (6) until I can have my ureteral stent removed from surgery done four (4) weeks ago for kidney stones. It will be glad not to have the frequency and urgency, having to go the bathroom so often. I want all this settled before my next TESTOPEL implantation scheduled for about five (5) weeks from now. Take care and I hope you soon begin experiencing the many benefits that I derive from this treatment.

I get my pellets on Monday. Starting out with T below 200, and no energy. Doctor said he was starting with 16 pellets. Test to follow ever two months till he has an idea of how my system deals with higher T levels. Base information on me is 66 years old, 6feet one inch tall, 230 pounds. My goal is to get my libido back, deal with the energy issues, and get out of the blues which have become a part of my life. I think I have read most if not all of this site a few times now. Been helpful in making up my mind. I have tried the creams, and shots in past T levels never got above 300. I suspect this will just need to watch E levels.

George -- I'll be thinking of you and hoping you experience the positive that I have after implantation pellets. I have never had anything negative to say about the TESTOPEL as they have been extremely beneficial to me. After some four+ (4) years now on the pellets, I just recently went to see my family internist for regular check-up. I received a phone call the next night from another doctor in the lab who asked me some questions and said she was more than a bit concerned over my HIGH HEMOGLOBIN that showed up. It was 19. From what she said, a high hemoglobin can increase chances of cardiac problems. Since I had a minor heart attack some years ago, she was worried. Apparently, some men -- even after a length of time passes -- can have a hemoglobin count RISE. Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this? Continued good luck to all on this site.

Thanks Bob, looking for a better year next year. When on the shots I did see a rise in hemoglobin. I give blood on a regular basis, and with me doing that it remained in the 14 range. I give to the Red Cross, and some times they will send me a note on how my blood was used, never who got it, just where it went. Most of the time it is for chemo related blood issues, but a few times for injuries. They also keep up with how many gallons I have given. Been giving for 20 years now makes me feel like I am helping somebody with no strings.
