acne treatment

My sister and I used Komed in the 1980s. It really helped my sister who had very bad acne. It helped me somewhat I didn't have as bad a case of acne as my sister. The only drawback I recall was that if not rubbed in all the way (applied as lotion) a white film at the edges of the application area could be seen; which was embarrassing if a classmate noticed it.
Comed is not a prescription drug, it appears to be an over the counter, topical skin acne treatment.
This means that it is not actually proven to help with anything.
In addition, while I can find it mentioned on a few sites, I can find no specifics on its price, use or ingredients.
Has anyone else tried this?
