Neurontin , like any drug, may have bad side effects for some people. Some drugs more than others. It is a life-saver for me. Your blanket statement is irresponsible. How about if I said all cars should be banned - they kill people?

Prescribed for Major Depression. I agree with Aardvark. This drug had been like a miracle for me for nearly 9 months!

HELLO,
Nuerontin works for some but not for many. Best wishes to those that it helps. I suffer from MS, Fibromyalgia, SCI, DDD amd I have 5 herniated discs. I was given this drug to help with pain stating slowly until I was on the max dose of 3600 mgs. I went into complete kidney failure and spent a week in ICU. I'm lucky to be living! Very Lucky!!!

nuerontin does work very good on back pain and depression as it does elevate your mood also , but i also know it is very addicting as i have been on it for years now and i have increased the mg i take more and more. i feel like i can't go without it! if i run out i get so upset and shake, sweat, anxiety, depression. yet i was told by dr's it is not addicting! i'm postive i need a rehab. but i felt this way right from the beginning, but i was not too concerned being the dr's say it's nothing in it thats causes addiction!

I see no blanket statement that is irresponsible. I am elated it works for you guys, Aardvark, Kwiknote and Nniknak. Have you tried to stop it at all? rare to stop cold turkey with no symptoms, it has to be weaned slowly and then one still has issues.

It worked for me too, for a bit about 2 mths- that is until I dosed up the second time and then the hell started.
It was prescribed for nerve damage pain, I weaned off it-NOT FUN and it has been 1 month and I am now still dealing with horrific debilitating leg & lower back -muscle & bone pains that I never had ever before this drug. I also turned into a B****. My daughter just told me she can't take it anymore, that I havent been close to nice the past 3 weeks, I looked to see when I took the last pill and it was 3 weeks to the day of her telling me this.

It is now 4 weeks and the pain isn't as severe but even the pain meds don't take it away, just makes it tolerable enough to get a few hrs worth of work done. I won't take pain meds unless I am in tears and I have a pretty good pain tolerance. There are many lawsuits over this drug being prescribed for anything other than it's FDA approval for. So for the vast majority of users, it's a nightmare! I hope it continues to work for you, I would love nothing better than to be able to live my life

I have taken Neurontin for 10 years same dosage 100 mg 3 times a day for severe upper back pain. Neuropathy, Fibromyalgia, Arthritus just to name a few. I have great results. This drug is just like anyother, You cannot quit any medication cold turkey, you must taper off gradually. Some people have addictive personalities. Fortunatly I do not. I have never experienced the addicting sid eof this drug.
