Allergic Reaction / Predisolone

Hi. My story starts off with being on doxycycline for about 2 months and mitazapene for about 5 days. Not sure which cause the reaction but anyway i got a pimple like rash but only on my chest and some facial swelling, i freaked out and went to the doctors and was put on 75mg of predisolone. I stayed on this for 2 weeks and it started to clear everything, then one night my face swelled bigger then it ever had and i started getting joint aches and pains. However the rest of my body seemed to shrink. After being to many different doctors who all told me to stay on the pred i went to one who told me this was way to much to be on. At this point I had been on 18 days. She then started to taper me off and we did a bunch of diagnostics for lupas, auto immune the works. Everything can back fine. She put it down to an allergic reaction to doxycycline or mitazapene but suggested i see a dermatologist after finishing the predisolone. When almost finished the pred i stopped the doxycycline and then noticed I put on about 7-8kg in mostly my upper body which feels like fluid. I've been off everything for nearly 5 weeks and my moonface has come down but is nowhere near normal and my rash is still here plus the back and neck pain and 0 energy and depression . I was doing fitness modeling before all this and now I wont even leave the house im that self conscious. I've been to a dermatologist and they've done 2 biopsys and I'm having a ct scan this week to figure this out. But can someone who's been on the same levels of predisolone please tell me how long your face and body took to be normal again? I can't handle being sick then this all on top

Hello, Tenaya! How are you? I'm very sorry about what happened to you.

You may want to ask your doctor about taking something to help alleviate the fluid retention. It is a very common side effect of steroids and your body may need help to eliminate that excess fluid. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA may include acne, weight gain and insomnia.

Most reports say that the moon face may take 2 or 3 months to go away.

Did anything show up on your CT scan?

Hey thank you. My ct scan showed my cortisol levels are normal and the swelling is in my soft tissue but they still have no idea what's wrong so I ve been referred to a rheumatologist and they want to check for crowns which makes 0 sense. I'm hoping it's just still leftovers from the prednisolone. It's been two months off though n I feel like i ll never be normal again :(
