Recently I went to Drs.After giving urine in cup and waiting roughly ten minutes before being tested with the 5 seperate drug strips.The Doctor asked me if I was taking Methadone.In utter shock I said no no way then the Dr used a brand new 5 strip tester and it was the same results.I was ordered to give another urine sample to a clinical lab in same building ten minutes later .What are the chances that the doctor was getting a false reading.I have been on the patch 75mcg every two days Kadian 20mg 3 times per day I did run out of Kadian 3 days prior but still had patch on.2 times tested and then lab recieved urinalysis but different sample than first one.I have been on patch for over 12 years.I did take 4 50mg gravol about two hours prior.Quite concerned about doctor playing games I tell u I did not take any Methadone and concerned that this was a game.It is B S

I am on Fentanyl patches prescribed by my Dr and i took some morphine and was called in for a urine test. Will they show up as the same thing?

Because you're oxy metabalizes just a tiny bit into morphine after it is ingested. Fentanyl im not sure about. But codein, morphine, and heroin all metabalize into morphine as soon as it hits you're liver. Oxy will metabalize into morphine enough for it to be traceable as morphine for maybe 8 - 32 hours after you take it, it also depends on how much you took too.

Well I don't understand then..I am tested weekly by probation and I show up positive for morphine?? I dnt take morphine..I am on 75mcgrms of fetanyl as well as oxycoltin?? I don't no y then I am testing positive for morphine?? UGH..

Ok, methadone is a synthetic opiate, BUT, fentanyl is a "2nd class" synthetic. meaning, unless lets say, probation knows u take fentanyl & buy that very specific test for it, it WILL NOT show up on the standard 12 panel urine tests. But if your being tested in a doctors office, with a lab handy, then YES, it will show up, but not as methadone. It will show up in the 2nd classes of synthetics. Its stored in your metabolites, so the normal urine tests, without a lab, like dip stick kinds, will not even have a space to detected it. Only the 1st classes, like methadone & so on. I hope I explained that as clearly as it was in my head ;) lol...

I have had 2 doctors refuse to see me anymore because the Fentanyl patch did not show up in my drug test . I use it as prescribed , every 72 hrs. Why does this happen ? It is very frustrating.Only 1 dr. found it and after using the 100 fentanyl patch for 2 years she said only a "scant" amount showed up. She moved and now I'm having to go thru it again. Fentanyl did not show up in my first test with this new dr. I'll know his decision in 2 weeks.

Yes, on a test that looks for the specific drug, rather than just the presence of opiates, it should be detected as Fentanyl and its metabolites and not anything else.

However, if the test being done is a non-certified one, then there is always the possibility of getting a false positive for something else, since some of them can be unreliable.

I am assuming you're talking about the fentanyl patch, is it a urine test or a blood test? I am on methadone and I have to give 2 urine samples a week..fentanyl doesn't even show up as an opiate in my urine when I have relapsed. I have sucked on a piece of a 100 mcg patch (NEVER do THIS it's extremely dangerous)..I have used the patch as prescribed amd it doesn't show in urine tests.
