Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

I just took my last swallow. Did not taste as bad as other remarks. Kind of sweet and fruity. It wasn't like drinking a margarita but I tolerated it. It took 4 gulps and in between each gulp I sucked on a lemon hard candy for a couple seconds. Hold your nose, gulp and have the candy ready.

I should make it clear that the doctor refused to do the procedure because these arryhtmuas were happening. So, not only did I have to go through the SUPREP for nothing, but also never got the colonoscopy I needed.

Okay, now I just vomited the water and Gatorade I drank a bit earlier. I'm done with this prep. Definitely not taking the second dose.

My colonoscopy is scheduled for late this morning. I had nothing to eat Ll day yesterday but drank lots of chicken broth throughout the day, which helped. I took the first dose of Suprep at 5:00 PM yesterday and the 32 oz of water followed by Gatorade. Everything came out and I am running clear. I have a splitting headache and cannot sleep. It's 3:41 am. I'm supposed to take the second dose at 5:00 am but since I am running clear, I can't imagine why I need to put myself through that again.

I agree with you..while I did not have a bad reaction with Suprep I don't think I could ever drink it again..the thought of it makes me gag. I didn't vomit as some people did and it does do a good job of cleaning out but after getting through the first dose I didn't know how I could do it a second time in the middle of the night. Ugh it was pretty rough.

I had drink clear liquids all day b/f the prep. At 6 p.m. the day before, I had to mix 6 oz. of Suprep with 10 oz. water. In the next hour, I had to drink an additional 32 oz. of water. By 7 p.m. it all came up. Called dr. He said I had the med in my system for an hr. so it will probably work. Two small movements throughout the evening. At 2 a.m. vomiting and terrible headache. Had to take 2nd dose of Suprep at 5 a.m.. Lost it all. Dr. said prep was not good, did procedure anyway. All is well with results. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND SUPREP--I'D RATHER GIVE CHILDBIRTH THAN THIS PREP.

I took SUPREP and it went well. I don't care what it tastes like, I just squirted a big squeeze of my favorite MIO flavor into it, and then held my breath and drank it straight down. It took a long time for anything to come out, and taking the second batch the next morning was tougher than the first, even the MIO did not help enough. I developed heart arrhythmia with NO prior history of any heart problem. I'm hoping the arrhythmia will be only temporary, but I will NEVER take this bowel prep again. Not worth the risk of serious heart problems.

I"m reading the responses, and although it's been a few weeks since I did this, I still cringe thinking about this horrid prep. For anyone who can tolerate this or even thinks it's not so unbearable, well, you deserve a medal in my opinion. I cannot imagine getting through this prep without major discomfort. I"m actually wondering if some of the positive posts are actually people who work for Suprep?? ; )

in this day and age when one has to plug their nose, chase with shooters of honey to ultimately still be doubled over with pain or vomit...WHEN the prep is worse than the procedure (and this is the supposed top prep) it's clear the pharmaceutical company owns the market here. More so than not and other than this post the general response to this prep is negative...Cmon guys..one should not have to tolerate uncomfortable to this degree

I am a 59 year old female weight 130. This is do able. First, have a positive outlook because that will help. Next, drink 8 oz of fluid (water, Gatorade) no coffee or tea every 15 min for 2-3 hours before you start. This will eliminate the cramping. Use a straw, hold your nose and have honey near by to take the bitter taste off your tongue (you know "a spoonful of honey helps the medicine go down"). Do not let go of your nose until finished. This will eliminate the nausea. I did the full dose the first time but only half the second as everything coming out of me is clear. Good lick!

Unless you have a history of polyps or colon cancer you probably won't have another colonoscopy as I don't think medicare will pay after 75.

Suprep Bowel Prep WITHOUT flavor - I swished with Oragel immediately before drinking the Suprep. People - I could NOT taste the drink AT ALL. As a person with ulcerative colitis, colonoscopies have become a yearly trauma. Not anymore. Try this! So happy this popped in my head!! You'll need about 1/2 teaspoon. Swish and then rinse with water (you will not wash the numbing away) then drink Suprep. Completely killed my taste buds.

I took Suprep for my colonoscopy yesterday. I followed the advice of others. I used a straw and I believe a straw is necessary. I drank it as fast as I could so not to prolong it. It helped me to rest, but my rest was brief. I did not think about it when I rested. You must not tell yourself how difficult it will be, or that will make it worse. Have a firm resolve to do this for yourself. Fear and dread will only make the experience more difficult. As an example, people who fear the dentist have a lot more trouble than people like me who have no fear. It does not taste as bad as some say. It is definitely doable. It is better than other methods where more fluid must me swallowed than with Suprep. It really works very well and you will be well prepared for a successful colonoscopy. I am 74 and thin (110 lbs). My side effects were bloating after taking the first dose. I had a brief feeling of dizziness, but it went away quickly. The most important thing to do is drink water and other liquids as directed so that you do not get dehydrated as this will cause real suffering. I did not find it that bad and I will do it again in 5 years when I have to have it done again.

Tastes awful, but does what it's supposed to. Takes about 21-25 gulps to get it down. Good luck. My doctor's orders are different than those on box. Not sure what that calls for.

I just did the first Suprep dose & it was a breeze to get down as I followed 2 helpful hints from my doctor's office: (1) drink with a straw (it keeps the drink's odor away from your nose), I also take a deep breath then hold my breath while sucking up the vile stuff thru the straw (2) suck on a Hall's cough drop as you drink - brilliant!

I suffer from the same and experienced the exact opposite. I have sworn off ever having another colonoscopy again because of it. Even with a family history of colon cancer I'd rather risk it.

I am a 50 year old male and am having my first colonoscopy tomorrow - and drank my first dose of Suprep 2 hours and 20 minutes ago, followed by the 2 16-ounces of water over the next hour, and so far it's been easy. It's had the intended effect and I've had no side effects or discomfort whatsoever. I also didn't mind the taste of it at all, not unlike a gatorade-type drink to my taste buds.

I have done the other prep and while there is a lot of it at one time mixed with crystal light it was easier to take than suprep and actually not more fluid than the two doses of suprep and water. Just the thought of it makes me gag..glad it worked ok for you
