Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

Just took my first dose of Suprep. Much easier than previous preps. Taste not bad but holding your nose does help. Mixed it with lemon lime gator ade. Cold is best. Followed with the water. Started working within an hour. Have to rush to get to bathroom so stay close to one. It's only been 2 hours but no pain or nausea. I feel fine.

What happens if you do not drink the water after drinking the surprep

Agreed! Never did barf but felt I would right up until going under.
I'm so sorry you had to suffer that way. Don't know which single reaction was the worst but this was # 4 or 5 for me and I never had anything bring on such pain, discomfort and the feeling of "I'm going to die" Should have went to the ER and maybe they could have helped. No matter because when I do feel comfortable to go again (if ever) I'll go to Manhattan and not to a doctor that uses Suprep. Thanks for sharing.

Took suprep hour ago followed by water 32 Oz. Lots of cramping but no movements. My husband scheduled same time ,he drank and has hit the pot already 3 times! Should I be concerned or what?

Just took the first dose about 2 hours ago. Taste was not bad...sort of like Sweetart candy with a little salt. Mix it well or it will be pretty strong at the bottom. Took about 30 minutes before the first visit to the little room. So far, it has not been nightmare experience many make it out to be. Biggest challenge was putting away 48 ounces of water in the first hour. Uh oh, gotta go! Good luck.

I guess it depends on your body and how well it accepts the product. As you did, I followed in detail every step. In fact I was on a self imposed bland diet before needed. Glad you were fine using it.

This stuff was so hard to get down. I read reviews and worked myself up to a frenzy. My colonoscopy was slated for noon and my instructions were to take the first dose at 4 AM and then the second at 7 AM. In a few reviews, it said to store the containers in the fridge because it would make it less salty and then others said not to because the box told you to store it at room temp. I chose storing in the fridge. I woke up and mixed it with cold water and crystal light. This was another suggestion. I started drinking it and it was awful; incredibly salty and sour. I mean a huge ugh!! Then I got a straw out to use and it did make a difference and I can't figure out why! I managed to get it down by only holding my nose. It did not kick in for an hour and a half! I was worried that putting it in the fridge made it not effective. But when it finally kicked in, it was like a tornado! I had no pain but lots of going to the toilet! When I started to take the 7 AM dose, I didn't now how I could do it because it was so vile. I figured out how to do it. I held my nose and sucked through a straw 3 times and took 3 breaths between each sip. As long as I did this, the after taste was not so terrible. I managed to get it down in a relatively short amount of time. I drank only 8 oz. of water the 2nd time because I was so full and was running to the bathroom too damned much! I drank about 4 oz. on my way down to the place for the procedure and the nurse told me that was a no no, that it could cause water to go into my lungs or some nonsense! I could not imagine being sent home at that point after all that work. Just know that you are not supposed to drink anything at least 2 hours before the procedure. I went in anyway and the doctor said it went very well and I had prepped perfectly. By the time I went to the bathroom the last time before I left home, it was nothing but liquid coming out of my tushie. All was well and I am praying I don't have to return for 5 years. 3 polyps were removed and this was my 4th one. I honestly don't think I can go back in 3 years. I hated this prep! Why does it have to be so difficult? Why in the world can they not make a prep that doesn't want to make you vomit up your guts! There is money to made here guys!!

Caution: there should be a skull & crossbone on the package. Refuse to use it! Until this one all went well (aside from the usual suspects). If you're offered it by your medical doctor "DECLINE" and ask for some other prep. I did everything asked of me and on prep day the results came up "failed due to poor prep" and the procedure was aborted.

I agree...the worst part of the process was feeling "chilled to the bone" which I was not expecting. No real discomfort otherwise and the water chaser did a good job with eliminating an after taste.

Suprep is truly horrible. I had to seriously hold back the urge to throw up on the first swallow. I had to pray through both bottles. The 2nd bottle I did end up throwing up. I would request a more milder preparation. The taste is truly unbearable, and I was on the toilet for 6pm to 10:30pm for the first bottle. Since I threw up the 2nd I was only on the toilet for 3 hours. Than after the last glass I still had diarrhea, 8 hours later. This stuff should truly be removed it is way to potent.

Holy cow this worked fast! Took at 6pm with no problem. Slight cough syrup taste but just cowboy up and drink it people! Only took about 15 minutes for the fireworks to begin.

Hey 693 ! I had the exact same experience. Although it tastes horrible, if you follow the directions including the diet leading up to it you should be OK. You should be done with it in 2-3 hours. The worst part is the anxiety of knowing you have to do it again the next morning. I held my nose the second time. Just be sure to drink the water with it as directed and you'll be fine.

Suprep is the worst tasting stuff. I have a headache, bloating, and chills. I'm not sure if I can get another does down. Also, I took the first dose at 6:00 pm and its now 4;00 am and I'm still going to the restroom .

This suprep is horrible. It's like drinking cough syrup. I got the worse headache and it took all that I had in me not to vomit. Im dreading the second part. It has made me so sick!!

What was the prep called that tasted like grape kool aid? I was in the middle of the suprep and started projectile vomiting about 10 times. I've had several colonoscopys and this has never happened before. I called the doctor and he suggested I cancel my appt and re-schedule. Plus he said they could order medicine for nausea and I use that the next time.

I had my first colonoscopy today and the worst part of the experience was drinking the Suprep solution. The taste was indescribably awful! I wish I had read this site before I started the Suprep and tried its suggestions. The actual colonoscopy was a breeze.

So I wanted to write this all out in hopes that it might help someone who was in the same boat as me facing the colonoscopy prep: filled with pure anxiety and fear! In the past, I tried only the GoLYTELY, enemas or dulcolax— all of which made me extremely sick. Based on my previous colonoscopy experiences I was so incredibly frightened that I would be in pain, writhing on the ground, nauseous and weak, feeling like I was going to throw up for hours on end. All those fun things. I think I most definitely had PTSD from my past. I scoured the internet recently looking for any tips from people and I gathered all of them into notes for me to follow the day of prep. I AM SO GLAD I DID. I can now say that I am no longer fearful of the prep and believe me that’s very hard to believe I’m saying that. Here’s my experience, I have no idea if it will work with every single person reading this, but I hope that it will provide some comfort. My doctor decided to give me SUPREP this time because there is less quantity that needs to be consumed. The few days leading up to the prep I ate a somewhat low fiber diet. On the day of the prep, I had a light breakfast-eggs and white toast and tea. Then throughout the day, I had chicken broth and Jello—just to keep my food intake up so I wouldn’t feel like I had such an empty stomach. Then an hour and a half before the first dose of the SUprep, I took prescribed medications Zofran to prevent nausea and Ativan to help with anxiety. Then at the scheduled time, I drank the first dose of the SUPREP. I made sure it was chilled in the fridge (which it has to be cold) and I had a straw to sip it, which helps. Now here’s where the important part came in. This stuff does not TASTE GOOD. I am not going to sugar coat the way it tastes. However, I equipped myself with lemon slices and gatorade and every time I took 3 sips of the prep, I quickly put a lemon slice in my mouth or took a sip of gatorade and swished it around my mouth. This helped with getting the taste out of the mouth. I have no idea what I would have done without those lemon slices. This actually was the most important tip of all. Then I drank my water and applied Desitin on my bum. This was the second important tip. This prevents the pain and soreness from all the wiping and BM’s. In the past using enemas or dulcolax, the BM’s hurt so bad and were so explosive, but these were not—they were warm and fairly gentle coming out most of the time. I had good BM’s for quite a few hours and then was even able to watch a few movies on my computer! Then I slept for a few hours and did the exact same routine again with the second dose, not forgetting to take the nausea and anxiety medication before drinking. This was a completely different experience than last time and I am so thankful I found these tips. I hope this helps someone out.

My husband drank the first bottle of Suprep in preparation for a colonoscopy the next morning and threw up so violently that he tore a 3 cm hole in his esophagus and nearly died. Do NOT drink this prep!!! Instead of a 1 day colonoscopy, he ended up being hospitalized for 9 days with an open chest surgery to repair the tear.

Ali: You're singin' my song! I had the suprep & liquids, and from the bloating, figured I'd be in for a night. Other than some ominous rumblings and entertaining noises from my abdomen, I DID NOT have the urge to go! Not until TWELVE HOURS LATER! By then, I should've known things were not going to happen. I took Part Two and was in the bathroom a few times, but come time for the procedure, I was NOT CLEAN. $60 literally down the toilet! :( So they rescheduled me for the next day, and I'm on Day Two now, enjoying my mega-drink of Miralax/Gatorade, and hoping I can get a good result. Feh!
