Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

There are pills you can take instead. You take the pills with your choice of clear liquids.zldbz

I agree that dose should be determined by body weight. Common sense.

I agree to take it with extreme caution; I had the colonoscopy yesterday; I was so afraid but slept through the whole thing. The Suprep was awful. I did have an easier time at 4:00 AM. I told my husband that perhaps when you already have the taste of cherry flavored poop on your tongue, the Suprep isn't so bad. I brushed my teeth well before I went to bed, but when I awoke for the second dose, I had that awful cherry taste in my mouth! I still feel so drained (no pun intended), and dehydration has been a real problem. Also, my stomach still won't hold anything -- just passes right one through -- and the GAS!!! Ugh! I'm glad I did this, though. Turns out I had a rather large polyp and moderate to severe diverticulosis (not --litis, for now). If I hadn't had this done, I may not have known of the polyp until it was already too late.

Fast-forward a couple days since my last post #207. I feel like I snapped back pretty quickly. Colonoscopy came back clean tho' I felt pain from being gassy at first. As for the Suprep, the 2nd dose was no more pleasant than the first. But I think using chilled water and flavored powder helped a lot. Time on the toilet was far less after the 2nd dose.

My advice to anyone taking this prep is caution. I am 4 days post procedure and am still fighting dehydration symptoms, physician aware and did not seem to care.
I was ok until after the procedure the combination of the prep dehydration and the sedation gave me 24hrs of nausea vomiting, severe headache. The prep says finish all but I got this bad only using 1 1/2 bottles. This should be dosed according to body weight not standardized. WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN .

It takes like cherry koolaide made with salt rather than sugar; although it is more viscose than liquid. Yuck.

Second dose in the morning definitely did not go down as easily. Colonoscopy done, the cleanse was good so not going to think about it for another 7 years!

Just downed my 1st dose. I'm not sure I could have done it without adding powdered flavoring (aka Crystal Light).

My tummy is gurgling and I still have my 2nd 16 ounces of water to go. So I'd better sign off!

An hour later and things are moving. I really can't get out of the bathroom b/c it comes on so quickly!

Having my first colonscopy tomorrow. Just finished first dose of Suprep. It definitely doesn't taste as bad as some people make it out to be. It's like watered-down cough syrup. I sucked on a lemon in between gulps and that helped clear the taste out. Right now I'm finding getting down the extra 32 oz. of water difficult. I shouldn't have had that Italian Ice just before the Suprep - now I'm full and having to force down this water.

Suprep is disgusting! It is just like Golightly but grape! Not sure if I can drink all of this and told the Dr I didn't think I could keep it down. It's terrible. Good luck! And it is ridiculously expensive!

This is my second colonoscopy in 12 years and I definitely do not recall my first experience being this bad. Took 1st bottle of Surprep at 5 pm with extra h2o as instructed for 8 am scope. Had planned to take second bottle at 3-4 am but was still crapping at midlnight and anal leakage at 5 am. Soiled two beds. The Rx should come with Depends.

I am finishing up the last ounce or two of the SUPREP as I type. The first 16 ozs was a peace of cake to get down. I had to take the first bit at 4pm and the second started at 8pm. It'd definitely much harder to get the second one down - I'm taking it much slower. I've found that chilling it definitely helps. A straw for me has not helped. It takes longer to drink. As far as the taste goes, I think it tastes similar to Grape Dimetap with a hint of Grape Propel. There is some un-identifiable after taste to it and that is where I have the difficulty. But, from what I've heard, it's easier than most preparations and it is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be! I was cleared out within 3 trips to the bathroom. I'm only 19 and don't have anything to compare it to, but... if I had to, I would recommend someone using this if they are able to.

Do you know if I am able to continue eating jello and veggie broth AFTER the drink....up until midnight?

I had the same reaction! It was definitely the worst experience I have ever had! 4 days later - sitll had bad gas pains..not sure if it's the sucralose in it, other "low sugar" products with this in it has given me gas before and that combined with drinking gaterade (has it also) I think had doubled the effect.

Finished cleanse last night. I had to drink first bottle at 2pm and second at 12am. Test is today at 10:15am. 12am cleanse kept me up till 2am. Suprep is much better than Golytely. It is much easier to drink and far less volume. I was glued to the bathroom throughout the cleanse. When I did try and venture out I was not able to make it back in time. I think depends undergarments should be enclosed in the prep kit!

I used suprep before my procedure and I can say that it made the prep much, much easier! While it does not taste good, the small amount that you have to drink is quite easy to tollerate. I would recomend using Suprep to everyone!

Please, do yourself a favor and look at a website called "splendaexposed". That tells the tale about the dangers of sucralose.

The following is an excerpt from the site: splendaexposed.com

The Chlorine In Splenda
Chlorine is commonly found in nature, but almost always in combination with other building block elements. Chlorine's structure makes it very reactive and because it is so reactive, it is very useful to chemists, engineers and others involved in making things humans use every day.

The inventors of Splenda admit around fifteen percent (15%) of sucralose is absorbed by the body, but they cannot guarantee us (out of this fifteen percent) what amount of chlorine stays in the body and what percent flushes out.

So, do you feel lucky today as you sprinkle that yellow packet of powder in your tea? You will be alarmed once you realize how chlorine, this common chemical we’ve trusted as a “purifierâ€, is actually affecting our health in more ways than you know. Hopefully, this chapter will make you hesitate before you let your toddler take another sip of your diet cola.
