Has anyone used the new SUPREP kit before a colonoscopy?

Would like any comments about taste, ease or side effects.

Thanks!

my directions were to stop eating or drinking after my second drink which was at 12am.

I am finishing up the last ounce or two of the SUPREP as I type. The first 16 ozs was a peace of cake to get down. I had to take the first bit at 4pm and the second started at 8pm. It'd definitely much harder to get the second one down - I'm taking it much slower. I've found that chilling it definitely helps. A straw for me has not helped. It takes longer to drink. As far as the taste goes, I think it tastes similar to Grape Dimetap with a hint of Grape Propel. There is some un-identifiable after taste to it and that is where I have the difficulty. But, from what I've heard, it's easier than most preparations and it is not nearly as bad as I thought it would be! I was cleared out within 3 trips to the bathroom. I'm only 19 and don't have anything to compare it to, but... if I had to, I would recommend someone using this if they are able to.

This is my second colonoscopy in 12 years and I definitely do not recall my first experience being this bad. Took 1st bottle of Surprep at 5 pm with extra h2o as instructed for 8 am scope. Had planned to take second bottle at 3-4 am but was still crapping at midlnight and anal leakage at 5 am. Soiled two beds. The Rx should come with Depends.

Suprep is disgusting! It is just like Golightly but grape! Not sure if I can drink all of this and told the Dr I didn't think I could keep it down. It's terrible. Good luck! And it is ridiculously expensive!

Having my first colonscopy tomorrow. Just finished first dose of Suprep. It definitely doesn't taste as bad as some people make it out to be. It's like watered-down cough syrup. I sucked on a lemon in between gulps and that helped clear the taste out. Right now I'm finding getting down the extra 32 oz. of water difficult. I shouldn't have had that Italian Ice just before the Suprep - now I'm full and having to force down this water.

An hour later and things are moving. I really can't get out of the bathroom b/c it comes on so quickly!

Just downed my 1st dose. I'm not sure I could have done it without adding powdered flavoring (aka Crystal Light).

My tummy is gurgling and I still have my 2nd 16 ounces of water to go. So I'd better sign off!

Second dose in the morning definitely did not go down as easily. Colonoscopy done, the cleanse was good so not going to think about it for another 7 years!

It takes like cherry koolaide made with salt rather than sugar; although it is more viscose than liquid. Yuck.

My advice to anyone taking this prep is caution. I am 4 days post procedure and am still fighting dehydration symptoms, physician aware and did not seem to care.
I was ok until after the procedure the combination of the prep dehydration and the sedation gave me 24hrs of nausea vomiting, severe headache. The prep says finish all but I got this bad only using 1 1/2 bottles. This should be dosed according to body weight not standardized. WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN .

Fast-forward a couple days since my last post #207. I feel like I snapped back pretty quickly. Colonoscopy came back clean tho' I felt pain from being gassy at first. As for the Suprep, the 2nd dose was no more pleasant than the first. But I think using chilled water and flavored powder helped a lot. Time on the toilet was far less after the 2nd dose.

I agree to take it with extreme caution; I had the colonoscopy yesterday; I was so afraid but slept through the whole thing. The Suprep was awful. I did have an easier time at 4:00 AM. I told my husband that perhaps when you already have the taste of cherry flavored poop on your tongue, the Suprep isn't so bad. I brushed my teeth well before I went to bed, but when I awoke for the second dose, I had that awful cherry taste in my mouth! I still feel so drained (no pun intended), and dehydration has been a real problem. Also, my stomach still won't hold anything -- just passes right one through -- and the GAS!!! Ugh! I'm glad I did this, though. Turns out I had a rather large polyp and moderate to severe diverticulosis (not --litis, for now). If I hadn't had this done, I may not have known of the polyp until it was already too late.

I agree that dose should be determined by body weight. Common sense.

There are pills you can take instead. You take the pills with your choice of clear liquids.zldbz

POISION! I took first bottle w/water added, @ 5pm, took 16 oz water @ 5:20, second @ 5:40. At 5:41, no kidding I ran to vomit, drenched in sweat, ready to pass out, then all of the sudden it was like it changed course and I went from hanging over toilet to sitting on it, and it HIT ME @ 5:45, along with HORRIFIC LOWER ABDOMEN CRAMPS. I REALLY THOUGHT I WAS DYING! I couldn't be still, trying to ease the pain. I was crying, trying to handle it.
Husband try to reach my doctor, and couldn't. Hospital staff asvised to go to emergency room. My severe pain went on from 5:45 to 7:00, then gradually eased off. I am drinking water and staying in bath room. I don't think I will be taking the 2nd bottle in morning, three hours before scheduled colonoscopy. I can't go through that again! It was worse than giving birth. POISION!
I totally agree that dosage should depend on your weight. I am 105 pounds, or was before All HELL LET LOOSE! Be advised!

OK, I'll make it easy for you. I've had at least 5 colonoscopies and have had ALL the preps. Suprep is really easy. Start by drinking about an ounce of water to moisten your mouth. Next, get a bottle of Gatorade or whatever clear liquid you like. Open it up and put it on your countertop. Next, mix the Suprep with cool tap water. Take a deep breath and chug as much of the Suprep mix as you can. Take a swig of the Gatorade (it kills the taste -if you think there is a bad taste). Now go and repeat the first step (chugging) followed by a sip of Gatorade until you've gotten it all down. I did it in 2 continuous gulps. Now, while you're still standing at the sink, chug that first glass of water. It'll be a non-event. If you're really good, you can probably get down the second glass, too. Voila - you've just completed the easiest part of the prep. Now go take a shower (you'll feel better), put the phone next to the toilet (because I guarantee all your friends will call you at that inopportune time) and maybe the Sunday crossword puzzle (you;'ll have lots of chances to finish it). Should be no nausea, no major side effects - but you will clean out! Should be clear and odorless (if you can believe that) by the time your prep is finished. Good luck. Hope this helped. I just finished the first 1/2 of this prep and I'm waiting :-)

It took 2.5 hours for the first movements. Three so far - all in one sitting.

Read the book , "Over Dose" by Dr. Jay S. Cohen, MD. He states that all drug companies gear their dosages to a 170 pound man. I empathize with you, as I was very ill, too. I should have gone with ny own instincts and only taken the first dose and forgone the second.

I just had my first experience with Superprep. I read all the tips on here and I thought they were really helpful. I was determined to get through this and started out really ok. The first few sips I didn't think were bad at all. As someone else pointed out, I tastes like grape cough medicine with a terrible aftertaste. I got through the first 1/2 quickly. I had trouble getting the second 1/2 done. I started gagging a lot but manged to keep it down. Things started up quickly and I was in the bathroom for the next several hours. I had chills, but for the most part everything seemed very managable. I finally went to sleep about 11:30 and woke up around 2:00. I had a horrific headache and began vomiting. I was very weak, couldn't get off the floor, vomiting and had the worst headache until 4:30 when I paged the doctor. The colonoscopy had to cancelled since there was no way I could take the second dose. I was still vomiting and had a headache for the until about 1:00 in the afternoon. I'm still having diarreha and I'm very weak 24 hours later. My husband almost took me to the ER. It was as if I was poisoned. I'm a smaller woman (105 lbs). I think it was just too much for me. Also, that is a lot of fluids in such a short amount of time. The doctor is going to try the pills next time which is what I had requested in the first place.

Our son is doing this at 18 to figure out what is going on with his system ... thanks for the tips. Lemon jello is helping, but he wants to die. And its Halloween. Scary stuff indeed...
