Ambien is used for sleep not for shocking news. If you cannot sleep you should talk to your doctor, Why do you take ambien?

I know that ambien is for sleep, and I have trouble falling asleep when upset - so I only take a half pill two or three times in a month (if that often). My question was about reaction with the pain killer that I was taking after having a back tooth pulled that afternoon. Not knowing, I did not bother to take the ambien.

It's actually the Propoxyphene with Acetaminophen that you shouldn't be taking, because that has been pulled from the market. The Propoxyphene has been found to create the risk of dangerous cardiac events.

And for future reference on mixing the Ambien, with any narcotic, you should check with your doctor first, because both of then can cause depression of the central nervous system.
