I used prepopik yesterday. It tastes like unsweetened lemonade with LOTS of artificial sweetener. Like lemon koolaid without sugar. Texture is good though, not thick or slimey. Mix with refridgerated cold water, not tap water and stir well. Drink with a straw. Brush your teeth and tongue after drinking to get rid of taste. You won't want lemonade after drinking this. Does not make you feel sick. I drank apple juice, hot tea, hot vegetable broth, smart water with electrolytes, coconut water, etc. Helps to mix up your drinks every hour. Drink at least 8 ounces per hour.
Cost $90 or so at Costco. Expensive, but worth it. Would use it again.
Also was not hard on my stomach. Took about 5 hours for the first dose to kick in, but once it did turned everything to liquid. Did not give me stomach cramps.
Advise you to take both doses on day before. I took first at noon and second at 6:00 pm. Must be taken at leat 6 hours apart. Even with this, I got up ever hour or so at night. My procedure was at 9:00, so there wasn't time to do a split dose, one the day before and one the day of. I still think I would do it all the day before, I still was going in the morning, until I had the procedure.
Some other advice. Use cottonelle or another brand wet wipes. Charmin ultra soft and/or cottonelle with Aloe (green label) toilet paper. Also once it starts working, put some vaseline on the area to keep it from burning when you go.
Another tip is to cut down on your eating a few days before. Cut out high fiber foods, nuts, seeds, meats, etc. Look up" low residue die"t to see what you should avoid.

I've used this Prep and it was wonderful. It tasted like orange soda and was very small. I undergo routine colonoscopies and have now finally found my prep of choice because it taste great and is tiny. Suprep & Moviprep = YUK!!!

Took my first dose of prepopik just now. I was dreading it. Cannot believe how ez it was. Very tolerable, not the least unpleasant. Orangey taste and texture of water, not thick at all. Now I will sit back, drink plenty of clear fluids WITHOUT nasty taste or thickness and drink second dose in 6 hours. Just hope it cleans me out because if it does, lI will buy stock in the company. When I say EZ prep, I mean EZ prep. Bought it all Walgreens, price is $96 but with my Blue Cross, I paid $12.50.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the posts. I had my colonoscopy yesterday and used the prepopik prep. I was a little (ok, a lot) nervous as this was my 1st colonoscopy. I was pretty anxious over the prep since it is relatively new in the U.S. so it was a HUGE help to read these reviews. Since I basically have to force myself to drink fluids, I opted for the prepopik prep which I took in the split dose (5 oz.) per dose according to my physician's directions. Wow .. no stomach cramps, bloating, or any.other major discomfort. This was definitely much easier than I had expected.

I went in for my 3rd colonoscopy this morning. In the past I've always used that awful tasting stuff that you have to drink gallons of and tastes awful. My doctor prescribed Prepopik this time. I took my first dose last night at 7pm and nothing, and when I say nothing, I mean nothing happened until about 11:00pm!. No bloating, no cramps, no weird bowel sounds, never even had the urge to go the bathroom, you would never even think I took anything for prep. Needless to say I was getting very nervous and anxious that it wasn't working for me. In the past, the prep always kicked in shortly after ingesting. I made one bathroom trip before going to bed, and not much came out. I was getting very upset that I would not be cleaned out enough for my 7:30am procedure. I followed the instructions to a T, I drank 5 oz of cold water mixed with one packet, and five 8 oz glasses of water within a couple of hours at 7pm. I got up for my 2:00am dose and took exactly as directed. It started to work shortly after, but I only went to the bathroom maybe 4-5 times. I was convinced I was not cleaned out enough, but I went in for my scope and everything went smoothly. I was very surprised! It probably helped that I stopped taking vitamins and ate a low residue diet a week beforehand, and only clear liquids the day before. It was my first time taking Prepopik and I think the worst part of the whole prep was the anxiety and stress over that it wasn't going to work. I will definitely take it next time with the knowledge that it may take hours before kicking in, as opposed to minutes from that other stuff.

I was so anxious about using Prepopik because of all of these posts that said it did not work, made the sick, etc. I started my prep at 5 pm today. My Dr. prescribed an anti-nausea medication that I took first, just in case. I mixed the Prepopik with 5 oz of water and stirred it for a full 3 minutes. The cup got a little warm. The smell of it is really pleasant, like orange seltzer. The taste was not bad at all. About an hour after I took it, I had a loose bowel. An hour after that it was water. It is now around 9:45 - I am still going a little bit here and there, but it is clear. Not looking forward to doing it all over again at 2 am, but I am not afraid, now that I know what to expect. No side effects for me so far, and zero cramps. This is my 3rd colonoscopy. The first one I had the gallon of sea water (colyte, I think). The 2nd one was Suprep. That cleaned me out very well too, but the taste of it made my physically ill - I was gagging it down and could not finish the second dose. Prepopik so far is soooooooooooooooooo much better than the other two! I had to post this, because there must be other people out there afraid to use it after reading some of these posts, like I was. It is a breeze so far. One thing I did that really helped, I think, is that I followed a low residue diet for the past 5 days and took a stool softener every other day this week, as I tend to be constipated. I also kept myself very hydrated yesterday and today with Gatorade. Hope this helps anyone who will be using it soon :)

WORDS OF ADVICE & EXPERIENCE: I am a 50 YO Female just had my 1st colonoscopy. Thank you for all of These postings. Some helpful hints others not so much. Here is my experience, I used Magnesium of Citrate 2 days before prep and day of prep Prepopik. KEY: HYDRATE 7 DAYS BEFORE! DURING PREP PHASE AND AFTER TAKING PREP. YOU MUST HYDRATE BEFORE! DURING! & AFTER!

1. Seven days before Eat a Low Residue Diet.....chicken no skin, potatoes, salmon, saltine crackers, and begin to really hydrate with Gatorade and propel at least 2qrts/day scattered throughout day. Intersperse with 8oz glass of water. I also used muscle milk or chocolate ensure in the morning.

2. Get your provisions together: buy wipes with aloe, A & D Ointment you will NEED them! Get lots of Gatorade NO red or blue. Orange, lemon lime, and they make a clear one too.

3. If you have anxiety like me get your dr. to give you a med for the night before & day of colonoscopy.

4. Two days before colonoscopy eat very very lite....hydrate well! Before 5 you should have 40 - 64 ounces of Gatorade like drinks drank throughout day.Take citrate of MG about 5pm-ish day before the Real Prep. It say take 10 oz I took only 7 & still worked well. You can put it in a Clear drink of choice and drink it it steps. 5pm drink, 5:20 drink rest. Then Slowly drink water 8oz. Wait 30 min, drink next Gatorade 8oz. Wait 20 min then drink 8oz your choice but Not Soda will bloat you, This took me 2.5 hrs to kick in and work. No side effects. Stay close to b room with all supplies. A & D ointment apply before u go and after. Use allow flushable wipes. Make sure to bring your cellphone and Gatorade in bathroom. I had no Side Effects. My anxiety low but was tired. Many trips to b room!

Day of prep: Drank 1 reg. Ensure bottle and 1soft boiled egg. Then lots of Gatorade and propel and white grape juice. Night before I made hello jello and apricot jello. Perfect. Prepopik is fizzy like sprite you have to drink fast. I stopped in middle caught my breath and finished it. Works for me within 1 hour. I started at 2:40pm. No side effects at all smooth ride. Then 2nd dose 9:50. No side effects as long as you are prepared to hydrate yourself in addition to the quantity of liquid with the prep. I was fine. No nausea, no headaches. My dr. Says I was clean ....spic and span clean. No cramping. Prepopik was excellent. No fear. Once you do mg of citrate Day before prep it gets things going then Prepopik is similar. Take your Meds early and on time within 3 hours of taking any prep to work and remain in your body. Planning & strategy are Key. No polyps....am good for 10yrs! Yay! Thank u to all before me that posted I wanted to give back and pay it forward. Don't be afraid........if I can do this anyone can!

I can't understand what Nicole is referring to. Prepopik does not taste bad at all. Apparently she has never had the other things for prep. Now those taste bad. It was the easiest prep I have ever had. I did add 2 Dulcolax at bedtime thought since I didn't feel cleaned out and my appt wasn't till the afternoon. I, also, have a very slow system. I was really cleaned out according to the doctor.

First colonoscopy in 11 hours, been 7 hours since my first dose and nothing but a bloated gut and a lot of pain. This is pretty bad. I'm planning on calling it off as I know i'm full of s***!

Used Prepopik 5 days ago. Worked perfectly with no side effects until after.

It has been 5 days and am still feeling the effects of it. Eating, getting crampy and running to the bathroom. Nothing I eat is staying with me.

Anyone out there ever have this issue with Prepopik.

I started my Prepopik last night around 6PM as instructed. Just now finished my second does at 5Am. My procedure is at 10.00Am. I paid 20.00 for my prep because my GI gave me a 20% off coupon. I would definitely ask for one since it seems a lot of y'all are paying very high co pays for this prep. I really really hope this fully cleans me out because right now I'm still having dark watery semi chunks coming out. I've had a total of 18 colonoscopies and upper endos since I was 18 so I am no newcomer to this. So far I have been extremely pleased with the product and never ever want to do Nulightly or golightly ever again after this one if it works! No terrible bloating or vomiting and pooing out both ends from this one!!! So much easier!!!!

Hmmm I think Nicole must be a shill for the Golytely people :-)). After surveying all my friends who'd already had colonoscopies, I was convinced that Prepopik was the only way to go. I had actually put off my 1st colonoscopy until I was nearly 53 because I soooo dreaded everything I'd heard from the day-before-prep. Boy am I thrilled that I did, because that gave Prepopik the opportunity to be approved in the US before I did it. Despite the good things I'd heard, I was still apprehensive, not knowing what to expect. I made sure to not have anything planned the day before and the day of the colonoscopy so I could be near a bathroom at all times. I'm glad that I did that, but only because when I did need to go to the bathroom it was diarrhea at first and then eventually liquid coming out, and that would have been unpleasant for anyone in a public bathroom to smell/hear. However, after drinking the 2 measly 5-oz glasses of quite pleasant citrus tasting drink, I only needed to go to the bathroom about 7 or 8 times in total before my procedure, and they were quick and very painless. I had ample warning and it wasn't like my bowels were suddenly going to explode unless I had a toilet handy. Had I gone, for instance, to a movie that day, I would have had plenty of time to leave my seat and find a bathroom; however, as stated before, I'm glad I didn't have to subject others to that smell/sound. For me it would have been no problem at all. My doctor said to take one dose at 2 pm the day before, the other one at 8, which I did. It kicked in within an hour of taking it both times, and like I said, I just had about 4 very quick trips to the toilet after each one. I was completely done by bedtime and sailed through the night with nary a trip (except to pee). I did drink lots of liquids in addition to the 2 glasses, but those were all my choice as long as they were clear, none of that disgusting gallon of the gag-inducing horror show everyone has had to deal with until now. People, we may not be the best Generation, but we are certainly the luckiest!!!!!! Don't listen to what your doctor says if they tell you to get up at 3 a.m. to take this, it is sooooo not necessary. Just do the 2 doses about 6 hours apart starting in the afternoon of the day before and you will be beyond good to go. Thankfully my colonoscopy was a complete easy breeze, and although I now don't have to have another for 10 years, I absolutely wouldn't even mind having one every year, now that Prepopik has become the best thing since sliced bread. Well, actually Propofol is, especially for someone like me who suffers from insomnia. I totally get Michael Jackson!! Can I get a prescription?!

Today I had my first colonoscopy. The Prepopik tasted good enough to be a drink someone would buy as a refreshment, no kidding. After the first 5 ounce dose and subsequent liquids I had no bowel movement at all for 4 1/2 hours. There was no cramping, nausea or discomfort. The first movement was very small. I took my 2nd, 5 ounce dose 5 hours after the first dose and had 5 or 6 seemingly small bowel movements, all of total liquid consistency during the course of the night. I felt the urge, went, got up and went back to bed. I didn't have to stay on the toilet for any length of time. My bottom was not irritated at all. I thought that it was impossible for me to be cleaned out with this amount of activity! But I was. I will say that two days before the procedure i drank a lot of water, maybe a 1/2 gallon, throughout the day. The day before the procedure I drank water, Pedialyte, beef broth, jello (not red or purple), black coffee with sugar and a whole box of banana popsicles. If it is clear enough to see light through it may be okay to drink/eat. Somehow, i wasn't very hungry, just slightly put out that I couldn't eat what I wanted. After my 2nd dose i started getting a headache. I immediately took extra strength Tylenol and it went away. I hope this post helps someone. I am going to tell everyone about Prepopik. When I told the nurses about my experience while they were prepping me one of them told me about her horrible experience with another product. Good luck to you!

On advice from a friend, I stuck with liquids only for two days prior to the exam instead of one...figured the less in...the less to come out. It turned out to be a good strategy for me. First dose around 4 PM for an 8 AM procedure. Started working within the hour. Take the advice of aloe wipes and applications of rectal ointment such ad A&D or Vaseline...frequently. That really helps, although rawness is still an issue. Toward the end some soaking in the bathtub or shower is helpful with the discomfort.

I started my prep at 8pm and have already had multiple movements within 1.5 hours. Haven't even been able to leave the bathroom. I started eating light food 2 days before and clear liquid diet for the past 30 hours prior to taking the first dose of prepopik. It really does seem to work with little abdominal cramping. I have IBS but after a recent c diff infection I became really sick. Colonoscopy is the last stop to see what's wrong! My insurance covered the entire cost and I live in CA.
I will post an update after the procedure.

I would say then that there must be something in it that you are allergic to because the difference between this and the others are like night and day. Hopefully, you won't need another one very soon cause I can tell you they are 100 times worse than this which I found really easy and tasty. The others all gag me immediately plus you had to drink like 64 oz of the crud.

I had my first experience with Prepopik this week. It sort of tasted like fizzy Crystal Light lemonade. I don't really like Crystal Light, but knowing how much worse it could have been, I was pleased. And you only have to drink 5 oz (twice), and then the other required liquid is whatever you like. Cream soda was my beverage of choice!

I wanted to post and make sure people didn't panic if the Prepopik didn't kick in within 1-2 hours like many people here experienced. When I use Prepopik (4 times now) it takes TEN HOURS to kick in. Almost down to the minute. It still works, it cleans me out, but I do not want others to be alarmed if they don't have a bowel movement within the first dosage time.

Prepopik is HORRIBLE. If your doctor recommends it (which it seems like they are because people like the fact you only have to drink 5 oz two times) it does not work! I took it at 5pm as instructed, drank more than the amount of water instructed, and did not have a bowel movement until 10pm---it was normal, and then only until 1am did it seem to be working. Then I started it 2 hours earlier than instructed the next morning since I knew it took a long time to work....4 hours later, still nothing. I had to call the doctor and they said to go get an enema or else my procedure would be cancelled. Imagine going through all that prep for no procedure!! Prepopik was the worst colon prep I have ever used, and I have done probably around 5 to 10. Save yourself the discomfort and worry over your procedure being cancelled the day of----go with any other prep your doctor recommends. I learned a lot from all the other posts from people who Prepopik didn't work for and was glad to know I wasn't the only one. I hope my post helps others out there too.

I paid $50 and it was well worth it. I am 65 and have had 7 colonoscopies in the past. I had to do them annually for several years due to polyps. For my procedure last month, I was prescribed Prepopik for the first time. I am now a huge fan. My procedure was in the afternoon. Since there were some negative reviews, I did make a couple "enhancements" to the procedure to make sure it worked well. I was told I could have breakfast the day before, but chose not to. Instead, I took 4 Dulcolax pills to get things started. But the prep itself was like a miracle. All my previous preps have involved the equivalent of drinking a gallon of sea water. I knew big Pharma could do better, and it definitely has. The 5 ounces you drink has almost no taste. And then you can drink all the apple juice and other clear liquids you want. Do that twice and you are ready. EVERY OTHER PREP SHOULD BE OUTLAWED AS CRUEL AND UNUSUAL PUNISHMENT. I told my doctor I would have a monthly colonoscopy (if needed) if I could use this prep. We patients should go on strike and refuse to use any other prep. UNITE!!
