Moving to Houston, Tx and looking for a doctor who will prescribe methadone. I have been on Methadone for Intractable Pain for over 10 years. I saw a psychiatrist/Intractable pain, oncologist for 8years and another for almost 8 yrs. Both doctors were in Houston, Tx. I moved back to Beaumont, Tx area and have been without proper medical and pain management. I have chronic lower back pain and arthritis in my right hip, which causes pain that radiates into my knee. I am constantly in pain. I've been taking methadone for 10 months now. I'm a 200lb Male. I normally take between 50 - 150 ml per day. But the past 2 months the liquid I get has been putting me to sleep. Like I used to come home from work and relax, eat, watch tv, and chill. Well now I come home, eat, and wind up going to sleep for hours on end. Then I wake up at around 2 am, lay back down, and I fall asleep again till 6 when I get up for work. This is getting old quick. Has anyone else gone through this? By the way I dose at 7 am every day. I worked with hospice for many years. If we changed pt from Methadone to MS Contin it was calculated at a 10/1 ratio. I was on 30 mg of Methadone but due to prolong q wave cardiologist felt med needed changed. I was put on MS Contin and the med tech argued that is a one to one conversion so my dose went up. When did the conversion change and why am I in such withdrawal and severe pain? ## Unfortunately, there is no definitive conversion between Methadone, and other opiates. Hi, it is so sad to see so many of us suffering needlessly due to ignorance! Is it safe to mix the prescribed amount of methadone with the prescribed amount of klonopin??? ## They can be used together, but it has to be done very cautiously, because mixing a Benzodiazepine with the Opioid may cause severe hypotension, respiratory depression and vasodilation. I am in pain from four surgeries and need help. ## Hi Jake, Based on my research, taking Methadone and Buprenorphine together may reduce the analgesic (pain relieving) effects of Methadone. It may also cause uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms if you have been receiving long term therapy with Methadone. It is recommended that you speak with your doctor before taking these medications together, so he/she can tell you how to avoid withdrawal symptoms. The combination may also cause side effects that negatively effect your thinking or reaction time. With that being said, I wouldn't say Methadone + Buprenorphine is "safe" to combine. I'm coming off of years of benzodiazepine abuse. My methadone doesn't even affect me now. I shake as if I'm an alcoholic. I have been feeling isolated and hopeless. ## Unfortunately, since Methadone is an opioid, it doesn't always help with the withdrawals from Benzodiazepines. I am very sorry that you're miserable. How are you coming off of the Benzodiazepines? Are you tapering slowly? Coming off too fast creates the risk of your experiencing seizures, anxiety, and depression, which would be dangerous, so it is very important to taper slowly, under medical supervision.

However if I can add any validation to that, E 131 is in fact listed as Methadone (10mg), manufactured by Sandoz. I don't have a photograph to show you, but I believe the pill's National Drug Code (66689-0810) should suffice as another point of reference. Can you break the methadone 10mg into half?? ## Dear Samantha, yes, u can break them in half. It might b easier 2 get a pill cutter. They work great. U can get them at cvs or pretty much any pharmacy. They r sold over the counter. ## Yes as far as I know, personally have broken in half over ten years. Have chronic pain and when I was not in as much pain I often only took half (5 mg.). Contact your pharmacist first, if you call your Dr. they might decrease dose, feeling you don't need as much, I am assuming you take for pain relief. If so may days you will need dose prescribed. I was taking 10mg norco 6× a day for 7 years and wanted off so my sister talked me in to getting on methadone. I've gone for 3 days and been getting 20mg a day but I don't like how it makes me feel. I have a unique situation. I am a recovering addict with severe chronic pain. I have really bad scoliosis that's in my neck and back and been in several really bad car wrecks. Lets just say I'm a tree magnet when riding with other people. I have been on suboxone and subutex for the last 2 years. Before then I was going to the methadone clinic on and off for a few years but I couldn't pay for it anymore so I had to stop going.
