And it is controlled because it does have some potential for abuse, though it's considered a very low risk medication. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes and dry mouth. I started Lyrica in Nov. 2007. Two months later my feet went numb and they never recovered. It is 24 hours a day. My neurologist blamed it on my MS but I still can't believe that, as I've brought up the topic even with a top MS specialist. However, I've said over and over that MS does NOT occur bilaterally, simultaneously. It's impossible and doing so would completely contradict a symptom widely known. So, I've researched until I have about had enough. Today, my endocrinologist suggested I look at my medicines. Over the past years I have tried to eliminate and return to them. There are two that I haven't touched, one is Lamictal, the other is LYRICA. The reason I'm here is because, a year after my numbness started, I began having the most godawful exhaustion ...

I was given lyrica to treat spinal stenosis back pain and sciatica nerve damage as a result of the medication I have had A re occuring staph infection that is antibiotic resistance. Along with burning in my feet as if I was walking on fire as a result of an increase in dosage my teeth rotting is well. As a result the financial toll and weekly doctor visits to the dermatologist and creams and medicines that had no real a fact add it up tremendously. Please notify me of anyone else having these issues thank you ## A medication wouldn't cause a staph infection, that is a bacterial infection. However, the dental issues do happen frequently with medications like this, because they can cause dry mouth as side effect. This allows bacteria to sit on the teeth far longer than it normally wou...

I am taking 75mg twice a day and it really works. It helps me stay calm plus my tremors are under control. ## Hi just recently I've been suffering from anxiety, my doctor gave me alepam 15mg for the on set of anxiety attacks but I'm scared of taking one just incase it will increase my anxiety or give me that horrible sinking feeling you get, which is one of my symptoms to anxiety.

Are personality changes a side effect of Lyrica? ## my wife takes lyrica and her personality has done a 180 . i talked to my RN at work and she told me this is common we are ready for divors. how do i tell her docter with out her knowing it is me ## The doctor should keep it confindental. Your wife's mental health is at stake. This is a dangerous side effect. Call her doctor now! ## I have only been on it 4 days and have a horrible cough..I didn't think it was related to the Lyrica until I got on this forum and started reading. ## hi i dont know what if any thing has changed with your wife taking the lyrica, but i am having the same experiance but did nit realize it could be the lyrica until i read your post, i have been moody as all gets, crying all the time depressed to no end...

Can I stop taking epileptin at once. I drink 300mg a day for nerve pain but it is not working that well. I use it now for 3 months but do not have a pain free day as the doctor predict, so I want to stop taking it. I will carry on with the Celebrax. I do not have epilepsy and the epileptim is making me very moody. ## Do not stop abruptly as this could cause unwanted side effects. Ask your doctor to wean u off & put you on something else like Lyrica. Most meds should not be stopped abruptly, and doing so with an anti seizure drug could actually produce a seizure. I'm not familiar with your med but nonetheless, don't stop....wean.

my right hand is so swollen, all numb and very painful. the left hand is fine. anyone have this problem? I am stopping the lyrica to see what happens. does anyone know how long it will take for the swelling to go away after stopping lyrica? ## Hi roz, Were you diagnosed with carpal tunnel, arthritis, or any sort of nerve entrapment in your right hand? Only asking because what you're describing is usually commonly associated with those types of conditions. Additionally, "swelling of the arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs" is listed as a general side effect of Lyrica. So depending on the underlying cause of this inflammation, it's also likely that Lyrica could be the culprit. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Lyrica Details Have you discussed this wi...

Does lyrica make anyone's upper stomach ache after eating?, in the diaphragm area. Any other suggestions for facial nerve pain treatment? ## Have you talked to your doctor? That sounds like it could be either pancreatitis, gastritis or an ulcer, all of which could be cause or aggravated by such a medication. Only your doctor can help you determine for sure what it is and help you find a solution. Do you ever get heartburn or GERD?

I am on 600 lyrica for chronic neuropathic pain , I decided to reduce which I did over 2 months got to 325 and I blew me out the water pain went through the roof far worse than I had known plus suicidal depression, went st back up to original dose 5 weeks ago have had very small improvements , I am feeling desperate as I thought I would have stabalised by now anyone have any experience ideas why ## @Wendy, I think I can help shed some light on why you might be having such experiences with Lyrica. Reason being is that these types of medications are only designed to "cover up" your pain, and not in the least bit remedy the condition. So when you lower your dose, it's really just taking part of the blanket off your wound per say; which is why the pain is still there. In my hones...

Is there potential issue of taking lyrica with my blood pressure ramipril? ## Yes, actually it isn't recommended that these two medications be taken together. They increase the toxicity of each other and it can be a potentially dangerous reaction. Learn more Ramipril details here and you can learn more Lyrica details here. Have they both been prescribed for you by the same doctor?

For years now I have been taking 4 tramacet and 2 lyrica every day. The side effects are weight gain, a bit of finger and arm numbness and sleep disturbance. On the good side the tramacet is all that really works on nerve pain (S1 root damage chronic) and the lyrica takes the second edge off the pain. If you are careful it should be ok. Always best to eat something with these two medicines. You have to slowly taper off either of them. No sudden stops because a sudden stop can cause seizures. ## I took Lyrica for 2 hrs for periphiel neuropathy pain and then it turned on me making me unable to see, bad uneasy feeling and kidney cancer and failure. I am scared to death to take even 1 -50 mg! And the withdrawal! Felt like I was burning alive! Ought to be against the law! the only drug that ...

I was given this medicine for pain. In 1 year this drug ruin my life. I still have a difficult time leaving my house. I feel lost and don't know the way back. It made me susicidal, angry beyond control, lack of worth, no phone communication except my mother, weight gain, panic, memory loss........THIS DRUG NEEDS TO BE PULLED FROM SHELF.....I cry now because I can't explain to people how it's taken my life away. I'm terrified of pharmasudicals. If anyone places a class action suit, please contact me. This drug is the drug from hell. ## I have been taking Lyrica for 5+ years now. I'm now on 600 mgs a day. I was originally given this medication for ocipital neuralgia (extreme pain & electrical jolts up the back right side of my head). I started having extreme fatigu...

I am wondering if any of you who take Lyrica are having a problem with bloating. I've gained only ten pounds in a year and I think it's all in my abdomen. By evening it's really uncomfortable, not pain, just a very full feeling that goes clear up under my rib cage. My sciatic pain is zero until I try to wean off Lyrica and then it returns quickly. Just curious! ## Bloating. yes, and weight gain in abdomen, gained 18 pounds since January, and the bloating is incredble abdomen only, actually as you said in the eveninig it pops up under my ribs, almost ludicrously so- like in a cartoon.... I looked down yesterday on left center under the rib and it was like a small asymmetrical bulge. I have never had tummy or mid tummy weight issues, but this is like being pregnant!!!! was won...

How long did it take your body to adjust to the Lyrica? Meaning, how long does it take for the "stoned out of my mind" feeling to go away? ## I've honestly never heard of this happening to anyone on Lyrica, but I suppose it really does effect each person differently. If you think it might help alleviate some symptoms, I would consider asking your doctor about lowering the dose or changing medications all together. There's no reason anyone should continue taking something that's causing more harm than good. How frequently are you taking it? ## I take 75mgs twice a day. It almost feels like I have taken demerol. ## I started taking Lyrica yesterday, for Periperal Neuropathy, 75 mg. a.m. & p.m. I also have that 'off my face' sensation. Glad it's the weeke...

I started taking the above product 2 x day - light purple marked MG1 I have neuropathy with very hot feet , I am not diabetic have had it for about 10 yrs always getting worse am taking Lyrica 50 mg 3 x day ## Sorry to hear about your situation Pat. I really hope things end up turning around for the better sooner than later. Has the Lyrica even been helping at all? I know a few people who have taken this medication for nerve and only got temporary relief from it at best. If this is the case for you as well, I'd probably suggest eating more fruits and vegetables alongside acupuncture or any herbal remedies (such as essential oils). This should at least help alleviate some of the nerve pain and can be done throughout your life without the side effects of those meds. If anyone else has...

i have been taking lyrica for burning pain in both legs in front 75mg am and pm. There is no improvement have switched to trepiline 10mg 2 days ago. No better. What do I do now lil ## How are you doing now? Did you give the Trepiline more time? These are not actual analgesics and neither of them will work like they do and it can take several weeks, before you will know if it's actually going to help you. Trepiline contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, which is tricyclic antidepressant and these can sometimes help with certain types of nerve pain, but two days is not nearly enough time for it to actually work. You can read more about this medication on the page for Amitriptyline Details. Do you have any other questions or information to add? Please post back if you do.

My knees feel like they are going to lock up my hands are stiff and somtimes lock and my feet do the same im taking 70 mg and i have only been taking them a week and a half ## If there is a class action regarding Lyrica, it wouldn't actually be for side effects, because all medications carry the risk of causing side effects and you don't have grounds to sue for them. Learn more Lyrica details here. Law suits are for permanent injury that occurs from someone taking a medication for things that are not warned about. If you've been taking it for less than 2 weeks and are having severe problems, then you should see about the possibility of trying a different medication. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Verwon, very much moot point is it that folk, individually or cl...

I have been on Lyrica for a long time. For the first few years everything was great, no side effects Before I started, it just for my tiny premie( it quite 4lbs) to lie on my chest. But now sometimes I retain so much fluid that I cannot get my jeans on and my legs are so swollen that my skin burns from stretching so fast. Also, if you press on a place it feels like play dough and leaves a deep imprint that takes a bit to go away. I am taking Lasix, but it is nor helping any more. Any suggestions? I don't want to stop taking in and have to tell my little girl she cannot play and crawl on mommy. ## According to medlineplus: "swelling of the arms, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs" are all listed as common side effects of Lyrica (Pregabalin).
