Lyrica Response

Updated

I have been reading all the responses above and want to tell you there are more to come. Lyrica is a "fat" conserving drug. My daughter gained more than 100 lbs. on it. Now, pain, weight, depression, "foggy" headedness, etc. continued. Oh, yes the terrible rash all over her arms, so bad she refuses to wear a short sleeve top. She always has a jacket on. Hair loss and at 30, the gray hair is now coming. Yes, Lyrica is the cause. She is now down to 25mg, but the reduction has to be very slow. She is one of about 8% that just can't quit it right off. GET OFF OF IT IF YOU CAN. It is the worst thing that has happened to her. She can't work and had to stop going to school because of the memory loss. We need to find a lawyer to help.

Thanks for your informative post. Just for future reference, when responding to other posts, you can post yours right in the relevant thread, by using the response box that is posted directly underneath.

If you use the other option, as a new post, then it is posted separately and not tied to that thread, so those users do not receive notice that you've responded.

I am very sorry about what your daughter has gone through from taking Lyrica, like any other medication, it doesn't work well for everyone that takes it. Some people experience a lot of bad side effects from it and some people do just fine and never experience any.

For the gray hair, the only thing I can suggest is dye, there are some great ones on the market that will completely mimic your natural hair color, so no one would ever know she is using it.

Are there any other questions or comments?

I too have gained alot of weight with the Lyrica. I resemble the side of a barn. I shouldn't wear red. I know, not funny....But keep your chin up dear. Weight can be lost. Just use the old mathematical equation: less calories in, more calories out. It's slow, but you will love yourself for having accomplished it. I'm still trying to lose the weight. I was one of those that quit cold turkey and didn't explode. I felt horrible, but when I realized that I could spell again and that I could have and keep a train of thought, I was happy, happy, happy. This fibro is a hairy situation, but I am sure that we will win the battle as long as we keep the attitude up and happy. Good luck and thanks for writing. You are a truly good mom.
