Lo Loestrin- No Period After Stopping.

I have been on BC for 8 years now yasim, yas, Loestrin Fe 24 and now Lo Loestrin for the past 4 months. I've always had periods, very light but I had them. I was forgetting to take pills regularly throughout the last month, but I always took 2 or 3 when I finally remembered. I did also have unprotected sex with my husband throughout the month. 3 weeks ago I took the white then brown pills to get a period and nothing. So I am over 2 weeks late now, and no real period 3 days ago I had dark brown very, very light spotting for 2 days. During the last 3 weeks with no pills and no period I did also have unprotected sex. Took a pregnancy test last week and it was negative. I read that many women don't get their period on Loloestrin and Loestrin 24 Fe which I have taken before for almost 2 years and had normal periods. No period for me is very weird I always got it immediately after taking the sugar pill. So should I consider this a "normal" side effect or should I worry that something may be wrong? Sorry for the post being so long, just wanted to give as much details as possible :)

Have you talked to your doctor about it?

There is a possibility that it may be due to your body adjusting to not having these hormones, after having been taking them for so long, but you should discuss it with your doctor, to be certain.

I am glad I read your post! I have been on birth control pills for about the past 5+ years. I recently switched from Loestrin 24 to Lo Loestrin. I had no problems with Loestrin 24 but switched for selfish reasons. It was not covered by my insurance and I was paying over 50 dollars a month for the pills so I mentioned that to my MD during my visit. My MD mentioned Lo Loestrin to me and how they were promoting a 5 pack free sample with a one month prescription and how that might help reduce the cost of the pills for me for awhile and since I was tolerating Loestrin 24 I would probably do well on it. So I figured I would give it a shot.... This was my first month on it and I completely missed my period. Which is highly unusual for me --- no spotting, nothing.... I have always had a very light and short period. While on the Loestrin 24 the same has occurred but I had always been regular. However, I noticed a big change since changing to the Lo Loestrin pill. I do have to admit I did screw up a bit since being on the Lo Loestrin pills. I figured the white pills were also placebo pills... I took one and then did not take the other white pill. I was being irresponsible and figured it was pretty much the same pill pack... Then I did some reasearch and realized I should of been taking both white pills... so I took the last white pill late. Poor mistake on my part. However since being on this pill I have have had no spotting or no indication that I should be getting my period. It does concern me. I know I did make a mistake with taking the pills which probably affected my cycle. I know I should take a pregnacy test to be on the safe side. Also, I am realizing now that my period was always very light and short. This might not be the right pill for me because it only give you two days of placebo pills --- which means for me I probably will never get my period (or rarely) on this pill! On Loestrin, which had a four day placebo pill -- I got my period for at least the last two days. I feel with the this pill I will have to start the pill pack prior to getting my period. From what I gather from the posts it "may be okay" to not get your period on this pill --- but for me I would still like to know I am getting a period or "withdrawal bleeding" every month for piece of mind.

I started lo loestrin on Jan. 22 and I came off of it 17 days later due to numbness and heaviness in my chest.. My doc wanted to be safe and take me off to see if that was the culprit. So my period was due on the 19 th of February and no sign of a period other than cramping, salt and chocolate cravings and all the other PMS symptoms I usually get.. My chances if being pregnant are about 10 percent for reasons of abstinence and withdrawal.. I feel like I am going crazy because I get relief with a period .. Absolutely the worst PMS I have ever had.. 2 weeks late tomorrow.. I guess a pregnancy test is in order ðŸ˜
