Klonopin Brand Name (Page 12) (Top voted first)

Updated

I've been unable to find Klonopin (brand name) at any pharmacy. Although I've taken this medication for several years, this is the first time I've been unable to find it. I've been told the manufacturer (Roche) has it on backorder. Some say it's no longer available. I cannot take the generic as I get a serious migraine. Does anyone have any suggestions where I might get a Rx filled?

Re: Bonita B (# 7) Expand Referenced Message

Everyone is experiencing side effects from benzodiazepines, for they are damaging the Vagus nerve, which wines from the esophagus throughout the entire digestive tract. Symptoms can include: Nausea, vomiting, headache, diarrhea, constipation (feel like you have to go all the time but can't), irritability, bloating, gas, undigested food, light stool...if a person weans off these drugs it's withdrawal you are feeling. The only way to combat these symptoms is fresh fruits like apples, pears. Fresh vegetables if tolerated may have to cook, like carrots, sweet potato, cauliflower, Asparagus. Salmon, Cod, tuna fish, sardines. Try making a fruit smoothie to get the 2 fruits or 2 cups daily. We need 2 1/2 - 3 cups daily of vegetables. (More whole foods) Get private selection frozen fruits. To keep you in fruit in between fresh fruits. Better than canned. Apple cider, green tea, Chamomile tea, Dandelion, Burdock, teas, Kombachu Tea, fermented sauerkraut, plenty of "spring" water will help with resetting your digestive system. If you ever decide to wean off these destructive drugs. Google Vagus nerve damage from klonopin & xanax.

In Toronto most pharmacies will use generics since "Roche" only produces a finite amount of tablets and Clonozepam, while being a "controlled substance", is still heavily prescribed by doctors.

It appears the FDA has allowed Roche to continue production. If you are in Ontario, I suggest visiting several pharmacies in order to obtain the original manufacturer Clonozepam tablets.

Where can I fill a prescription for Mex-Klon? And price per 1 mg pill? I have just found out the ONLY two generics I can tolerate, TEVA and MYLAN are no longer made. The 'real' Klonopin was priced to me at over $11 per 1 mg. And I take 3 per day! Always out of pocket.

Re: Julie (# 227) Expand Referenced Message

Maybe an ineffective generic?
I've had them make me very sick.
Sadly Teva, the best, is no more.
But my hopes are on Actavis.
I was first Rx'd it 22 yrs ago for a seizure disorder.

Taking name brand klonopin by genentech, .5 mg. Can not take g eneric. Problem is it seems queite weak as compared to name brand I took several years ago. From what I can tell this is the only company making name brand right now. Anyone else using this brand ?

Sound4heaven: I went to the FDA shortage site and did not find any information on Klonopin. It was not listed on the shortage list. How did you find that on their site? I find it strange that the FDA does not have it listed on the shortage list, ESPECIALLY since Genentech keeps saying it is due to a regulatory compliance issue with the FDA on testing of the materials used to produce the medication. I do not understand why Genentech would not know when production would start. If it is due to testing... When is the next scheduled test? Hopefully, someone else will call and get a nice person who will give us more information.

Gentechs formulary pdf for Klonopin has not been revised in over a year. So, let's hope they didn't change.

I don't think they can post a old rx pdf if they changed the formula.

When Klonopin wasn't in production I couldn't even find the rx sheet for Klonopin on their site. Now it's posted and it hasn't been revised since October 2013.

Genetech pharmaceutical assured me the formula has not been changed and that it is exactly the same.

Peg, I don't seem to have a problem with Klonopin after the reboot of production. I'm not arguing that some people might feel like it has changed though.

K was off the market for 4 plus months. I believe that when it came back the perception of what it might have worked like might of been skewed by because of the amount of time that had passed along with alternative drugs that where tried. It's very possible that people's bodies just might be interacting with it differently for whatever the reason.

Same thing some people went through when name brand Excedrin was taken off shelves for a long period of time not to long ago.

I cannot find nothing however that points toward K being made diff. People say some of K is being made in different places. Most likely to boost initial production. Could be permanent though. I dint know but that doesn't mean it's made different.

First thing I did and still do even as of yesterday, is go to Gens web site and check revision dates on the formulary sheets and unless Roche/Gentec are asking for a huge legal suit against them it hasn't changed. The one sheet has the exact amounts of every chemical that's in a Roche K tab.

Has anyone called the Jersey or San Francisco office of Gentec and asked a representative if it's changed. If so, let us know on here please.

Klon have you tried named brand? It was off production from January to July 2011 and it was still the same when they started production again. Has anyone who's been taking the named brand since it's been back this time had any issues? I honestly can't tell the difference with the named brand since I got it last month.

Mark in PA you seem to think 'same' formula makes same drug.

1. All generics Ostensibly have the same formula/active ingredient and all are Different.

2. 'Same' ingredients/compounds from different suppliers in different mfg machines and conditions could yield Vastly different effects.

3. Klonopin ceased mfg for app 8 Months (Feb -Oct, even tho available to app April) and moved from Switzerland to notorious Mexico.

3b. IOW, good luck with who you're getting the 'same' ingredients from now since most Generics are 40%-80% Third world (Mexico, China, India) 'stuff'. In fact ALL of Now-Mexican-made Brand name 'K' may now be 'Tijuana special.'

pt 1: ""..The formulation may also differ dramatically from the brand name. Many pharmacists may be unaware that the physical characteristics or release properties of a brand name drug often stay under patent even after the active ingredient becomes available generically. This is especially problematic for slow-release or LONG-ACTING medications. Generic manufacturers may have to come up with different technologies to deliver the active ingredients. This means that the products are NOT always “indistinguishable or one and the same.”

To see this for yourself, visit the FDA’s website and report on the antidepressant bupropion XL...."

KLON,

1. I said that I don't notice a difference.

2. Your long rant proves absolutely nothing to me as you presented no evidence that Klonopin is made different now. You have a opinion and that is all. Each claim was not backed up with evidence.

Why don't you just call Gentec and ask them if it's different?

No one on here that claims the drug is different has made contact with Gentec. Then, reported back here to help others.

If people on here (including myself) are getting ripped off and paying name brand price for generic level Klonopin, I'm sure they like to know. I know I would.

I cannot accept a theory based on speculation that it's different just because of where its made.

I have insurance and it will not cover the named brand. How long have you taken named klonopin? Why do you continue to get it if you are so opposed to it? Klonopin is not a narcotic. It's a benzo which is in a whole other category. There is no formulatory change. That would against the law for them to have in writing the exact ingredients if it were not so.

Kim states that the generic doesn't work and wants to try the named brand and wonders if it is available. Everyone's system is different. I don't think there is any difference in the formula. Has anyone else noticed any? It was on backorder in 2011 for 7 months and when it resumed I had the same results as before. This time when it was on backorder in 2014, I didn't notice any difference in it. It is expensive for the named brand and if it really works for you then it is well worth it. I would try another generic if I thought it would work as well as the named brand but I have not been able to find one that is consistent.

I think each individual just has to find what is best for them. I was a anxious person before I started taking benzos. Actually was not seeking klon...went to ER and Dr thought I was having a panic attack which later turned out to be a heart defect. Of course it was the greatest drug....for awhile. I think the generic drugs cause more people to use too much because of their inconsistent quality. I'm afraid of getting off the klonopin because of the bad side effects and the chest discomfort that arises because of my heart defect.

I want to do Gods will for my life...and I think he wants me off this stuff..for me. But I'm scared as hell....rambling thoughts today. More like a diary.

I do think the klon may be working better...I did a stupid thing when generics came out and no name brand...started having marijuana along with klon...bout to start withdrawing from the marijuana...and even though would take less klon when smoking...sure it raised my tolerance. Any advice? Lol

Remember...less is more...when more becomes to much...God decides to withdraw those lil receptacle sites..and wont let that medicine get in. My theory anyway, lol.......Not sure if it is the smart thing to do........not recommending for everyone..go on a 3 day fast from benzos...maybe will make your body reboot if you're getting use to the same dosage. On second thought..dont try a 3 day fast. Lol.........wish they had a benzo support group in my area...Always consult with your physician......when taking my advice. Laugh laugh laugh...

Hi pndinbama,

I do avoid calcium and have been taking magnesium supplements for a long time. I know calcium is good for us but when I saw the mammogram showing mostly calcium deposits in my breasts, I figured I'd had enough. Magnesium is also good for your heart - maybe by reducing calcium plaque, who knows. Thank you for 'point of return' ... what I found gets me calm is a combo of the new klonopin-lite and a small amount of ativan. But of course better to do without more medications. And not all doctors will believe you should or do need 2 tranquilizers. But at least I sleep through with both. 1mg ativan in morning and night is enough supplement for the new k-lite.
I'll ask a friend who works for a pharma company and my doctor if there isn't a way for the FDA to do more investigation - but I don't know that I have the energy to fight Genetech/Roche and the FDA bureaucracy :)
