I have been using xanax about two bars a day. How long will it take for me to be able to pass a urine test? Im about 200lbs. And how do u deal with the withdrawals?

Dont listen to verwon.....he/she is going off the generalization of benzos being out of your system in 1-6 weeks. All benzos are different. Xanax (alprazolam) happens to be one of the shortest acting benzos there is. Some benzos do stay in your system for weeks (valium and klonopin come to mind) but xanax is not one of them. After 3-4 dsys you should be good....I know this from experience. Im on a methadone clinic so I know the ins and outs of urine screening pretty well.

I am on probation and have monitored urine screens often...I used upwards of 20mg Alprazoam over a weekend, ending on sunday night at midnight. The following Tuesday morning (36 hours later) I was called in for a drug test. I proceeded to drink 2 gallon of water, urinate about 10 times before going in, and passed just fine. Xanax does not stay in your system for 6 weeks.

Hi Mack,

Xanax (Benzodiazepines) can be detected in your urine for up to 1-6 weeks after your last dose.

To get a bit more specific, the average elimination half-life of alprazolam (xanax) has been found to be about 11.2 hours (range: 6.3 to 26.9 hours) in healthy adults. Half-life here means that, say, 11 hours after ingesting Xanax, half of the active amount will be gone. This doesn't mean that 11 hours later, though, the other half will be gone. At that point half of the remainder will be gone, then another half after the same time interval, and so on, until the drug is eliminated from the body.

As far as avoiding withdrawals, usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them.

I've been on zanax for many years although my pain dr said if i continue to see him for pain I'd have to stop taking zanax so, i have a prescription for them from my other dr im supposed to take 3 daily of the blu zanax i think its 2mg. Im not a energetic person and have taken zanax 3 days before appointment an passed CLEAN!!! Best thing to do is if you don't have a prescription don't take them because they're habit forming and to get off them id start by breaking them in smaller pieces until you no longer have to take them. I've had 2 cousin die from taking zanax with pain meds. Im supposed to take 3 daily although i don't i may take a half of one maybe once week if needed for panic an anxiety attacks because i cant control them otherwise i wouldnt take at all!! If you don't need them don't take them and you can pass a urine test 4-5 days sometime 3 days after taking them but not sure how that would work if you take 5-? A day. I took one saturday and one sunday night late and i go to the dr on friday just to be sure ill post my results when i get home so people will no. That will be exactly 5 days. So those of you taking them this is the best response and everything i post is true because ive did it but I've got a prescription i just don't like taking them unless i have to. I'll post Friday evening that will be my 5th day im not going to take anymore unless i have to

I took one 1mg blue football shaped xanax for a week and stopped twenty dwys brfore my exam cuz i knw i was due for a urnie and sure enuff i came up pos. Got kicked off my pain mgmnt program and went thru worst withdrawals ever. Now i ca t find a new panin mngmnt dr because of this...not worth it. Do not take them unless prescribed. Anymore questions?

I'm in pain management. I get tested once a month. benzos unfortunately have one of the longest time frames for getting out of your body. I have a relative that makes pills for several companies so he's the one that actually makes the medication and he says benzos can be detected up to 6 weeks using the standard ua test because of one ingrediant that is added to benzos and 2 the doctor that is sending your results using most standard drug tests that have a cut off, but some doctors can ask for 0% which normally the cut off point might be 50 ng and so what ever shows up over 0 your screwed. It's not fair. it should be left up to the lab and there's an organization that sets the cut off but pain mangement can ask to change it. For example my reg doc gives me a ua because he presribes me benzos. My pm doc prescribes my pain meds and reg doc reported opiates positive. Doesn't matter if it's norco or oxys, it's all the same. My pm doc did the same test but it showed I had norco in my system and gives the amount of oxy in my system. I take 2/30mg contin 1/20mg contin and 4 oxycodone daily so my range by mid morning should be 1300-1700 and higher in the afternoon and thats through Quest lab I looked up on youtube and got greater and more accurate info. Might want to give it a try. Hope this helps.

So there are .25, .5, 1 milligram, and 2-4 milligram tabs called Zanny bars. The other Xanax look like a regular pill. The bars are long rectangle and white and look like a ladder and they call them bars. Hope that helped. I wish I could fall asleep.

Nobody can drink 2 gallons of water, only pee 10 times, not die of water intoxication, and wash out Xanax in one morning, not necessarily in that order!

I took .5mg Xanax on one day due to sever anxiety that caused colic pain. The following day I only took .25mg. Xanax to taper off.. I suffered v much and I felt as though I was going to have a panic attack. The third day, I stopped it completely and switched to Lexatonil 1.5mg.. I tried to stop lexatonil on the 4th day but I couldn't ... I feel v v bad and as though I am losing my mind. Can't seem to be able to sleep, very anxious,,body twitches, numbness and SEVERE ITCHING a lover my body..are these withdrawal symptoms of withdrawal.? How long will they last? Was it a mistake that I took lexatonil..?

According to psychiatrist. The withdrawals of 1mg took less than a month several times a day should not have the withdrawal symptoms. You must have been taking something else. You are so knowledgeable why didn't you taper yourself off. Don't make since. ANY MORE QUESTIONS?

I too am on a methadone program, and am always worried about failing for xanax. Could you please share with me some of your infinite wisdome about the ins and outs of urine screening? I need them to see methadone, and adderall (i have script), but they cannot see xanax, they will take my carries away. Any help would be great
