How Long Does Prescription Morphine Stay In My System?

I am prescribed morphine sulfate for chronic pain. I take 120 mg daily. Now I am laid off and have drug tests to pass. I was hired but then not hired because of the test results. Even after offering to stop taking my meds, I was not hired. Now I have another job opportunity. How long will the meds show up if I quit? Can I speed up the cleansing process? Except for in certain very rare cases, such as being an airline pilot, or a CDL driver, they cannot refuse to hire you due to the medications you are taking, even if they are narcotics, as long as you have a legal prescription for them.

You simply have to inform them that you are taking it and have a prescription, when you go in for testing, though they do have the right to verify it with your doctor, if necessary.

If it was for a regular job and you told them you had a prescription for it and they refused to hire you due to that reason, you can get that company in serious trouble.

The company that hired me told me I had tested positive for Morphine so they couldn't hire me. I asked them " What can I do...I will stop taking the prescription even, to get this job" The company then had me have my Dr. send them a letter saying it was safe for me to work. They hired me again. Then the HR Director's boss said " We can not hire him" so I was not hired. I have worked for 12 years taking pain meds and never had an accident or injury at work that whole time. To them, my Drs. letter and work history did not matter...it all came down to testing positive for Morphine!

U may end up with serious withdrawl,and your liver can clean toxins only so fast,did u tell them it was a legitimate prescribed and tell them u be willing to taper down,if your on a legitimate script I don't know if they can cancel your hire because of that that's might be lawyer material
