Gabbapentin Morphine Sulfate

I was on morphine sulfate (both immediate and extended release) for several years. It helped relieve some of my back pain and I didn't have any trouble getting prescriptions for it in MICHIGAN. Moving to Florida last winter, I gave up trying to get Morphine Sulfate. It was possible but difficult to get it I guess But I gave up. An Orthopedic doctor put me on Gabapentin and it has lowered my back pain a lot. I'm on 600mg 3 times a day. I've heard that Gabapentin can have some pretty rough side effects (like swollen face) but so far I haven't had any. My depressed wife is also on Gabapentin (100mg 3 times a day) to calm some extreme body shaking and it has worked very well with no side effects so far.

Hello, Robert! How are you and your wife doing?

I'm glad that this medication is working so well for you. It's also used to treat some mood disorders, so it may help with her depression, as well.

The FDA lists other possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache and weight gain.

Do you know what was causing her shaking?

My uneducated guess is that the numerous drugs and other meds she has been on since her whole family (Mother, Brother, Father, and Sister ) died may have contributed to it. She was put on some of the WORST antipressants there are according to the antidepressant ratings I've read. She was constantly withdrawing from one drug and was put on a different one for the last 2 years and sometimes was put on 2-4 drus at the same time. . her Psychiatrist was attempting to find the right combination of drugs to help my wife feel better. The last drug she was on was Brintellix (a fairly new drug that not much is known about compared to many of the others and one that I suspected of causing her some of her problems) However, she has been off that drug for quite awhile and although most of her other physical symptoms are gone now she will still shake if she doesn't take Gabapentin on a regular basis (100mg) 3-5 times a day although the shaking is not as violent as it was at one time. Hope this info helps someone.
