It is noted that Escitalopram may cause harm to the fetus if it is used during the last 3 months of pregnancy; and human spontaneous abortion has been reported by the manufacturer. Animal studies have revealed evidence of adverse effects on embryo/fetal and postnatal development, including teratogenic effects, when administered at doses greater than human therapeutic doses. I've been diagnosed with Insulin resistance and my doctor prescribes Lexamil to me explaining to me that I might be undergoing some stress these days. I don't really understande how an antidepressant will be of any help in my case. I want to know if there are people out there experiencing tinitus?? while taking Lexamil? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram and though it isn't listed as a common side effect, there have been many reports of it causing tinnitus in people that have taken it. You should discuss it with your doctor, because it may just not be the right medication for you to take.

is it as effective as cipralex? I responded well on cipralex but now my medical aid is only providing citraz ## In theory, it should work the same, because they both contain the same active ingredient Escitalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant. Have you discussed your concerns with your doctor?

Hi, Within 3 months i have to undergo chemo theraphy and the anti-hormoonpil.Breastcancer-had a mastectomy. At the moment I am taking Lexamil. Is there reason to get off Lexamil. What can I do to prevent weight gain while using Lexamil? I am also taking birth control which adds to the possibility of gaining weight. ## Lexamil contains the active ingredient Escitalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant and it isn't known to cause significant weight gain. Compared to taking an oral contraceptive, you are more liable to gain weight from the birth control, rather than the Lexamil. However, you can help keep any changes, from either medication, under control by watching your diet to make sure you aren't eating far more than you should, stick with lower fat foods and get plenty of exercise. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns? They will also be able to advise of ideas that may be useful to you.

I was prescribed Lexamil in France after he death of my husband, and found them to be a great help. Since coming to England I cannot get it from my G P. What is the equivalent in England. ## I'm don't know what the name brand would be there, but the active ingredient/generic would be Escitalopram, it's an SSRI antidepressant. Recently, someone I know consumed 18 of these with an intention to end life. Luckily the person was given medical attention within 3 hours of consumption. Has any else noticed the extremely difficult new packaging for Esipram? I advise anyone especially elderly patients to ask their doctors to switch off Esipram until the manufacturers come to their senses. ## It's a great way to ensure anxious people who bite their fingernails stay on this drug! The genius who came up with this ought to be fired! ## I agree, the packaging is an absolute disgrace and yes the designer of this packaging should be sacked. I can not believe that they could go to market with such an impossible to open packaging. No wonder I have to take the drug !!
