Ear Infestion

I have an ear infestion either from an insect bite or a post from a cheap earring. The swelling has gone down but I am having real pain on the ear were the area is affected. I have been taking the medication for 4 days--prescription is from 3 to 5 days.

I should have mentioned I am taking sulfameth/trimethoprim for my ear infestion and after 3 days i have plenty of pain still in my ear. The swelling has gone down in my neck and under my ear but the little skin on the ear closest to the face is still swollen and it itches and hurt.

Sulfamethoxazole with Trimethoprim, commonly prescribed under the brand name Bactrim, it is an antibiotic, used to treat various types of infections.

And it can take several days, for the medication to fully work and clear up the infection. If you finish your course of it and it is still sore and problematic a day or two, afterwards, then you should contact your doctor, as you may require a longer duration of treatment or a different antibiotic.
