Drug Testing Laws

My problem is I was hurt in a snowboarding accident. Since then I have suffered chronic pain. After a year on State disability they ended it. The federal government decided that I wasn't disabled. I use to earn over $100,000/yr. The federal goverment says if you can earn $900/mo that is substanial work. My problem is that I am trying to find a job but everybody drug tests. And of course my drugs show up. Does anybody know about drug testing laws?

Are you referring to prescription drugs legally prescribed by your doctor?

If so, then it will not matter what shows up on the test, as long as you are legally taking them.

Some places will ask you ahead of time what you are taking, so you should always take a list with you, just in case. Some drugs, such as narcotics or Benzodiazepines will negate the test(s) entirely.

Other companies will run the test, then if they find a positive result, they will contact you to see what medications you are taking to see if they negate the test results.

Another option, that some companies use, is to check and see if the medication is at therapeutic levels, and if they are, they don't consider it a failed test.

So yes, if you are legally taking the medications then there are several options that are used to prevent you from being labeled a druggy and failing the tests.

However, if they are NOT legally prescribed, then you have no options!

Buy a detox kit from your local GNC health store. For 20-50 dollars nothing will show up on your drugtest.. if you are legally prescribed the drug then save your money.

These so called drug detox kits will ABSOLUTELY not give you the desired results and or the results they claim,IF you are a heavy user.And the water purging method will only work for T.H.C. as Opiates and most other compounds i.e.
Cocaine are water soluble where as T.H.C. is oil soluble.In fact trying to "flush" Cocaine or Opiates out of your system with water will only guarantee you "drop dirty" as being water soluble this only makes the narcotics flush out with the water. !!CAUTION!! You CAN drink enough water to shut down your kidneys to where they go into a panic and ONLY allow the water to be expelled but please please this can cause severe damage to your body up to and including death. I am a FORMER pharmacist and have been on federally mandated drug testing for years and years(lifetime in fact) I am also an over 20 year (AB)user of prescription narcotics and still am. If you are a Heroin or other Opiate user the best thing you can do is just get a script for Vicodin,Lortab etc. even Tylenol #3 or #4 as the URINE tests cannot differentiate one opiate from another.
