Doxycycl Hyc 50mg Cap

I was prescribed this to help with a stye on my eye. 3 days into it i got the worst sore throat i have ever had in my life. The dr. said that I do not have strep. Could the sore throat be a result of taking this drug?

Cough
Increased thirst
Shortness of breath
Sore throat
Sores in the mouth
