Don't Drink Beer With Brintellix

Been on this med for 3 weeks now, has been working great no panic attacks. But, today I decided to drink 5 beers with no food and only the drug in me...bad mistake. I have a horrible head ache and pain behind my left eye. Hopefully, will wake up feeling better tomorrow.

Yes, thanks for posting sage advice for others. It is never a good idea to drink alcoholic beverages, while taking a prescription medication. It is well known that it can worsen the side effects, so one drink may affect you like you'd had 2 and so on.

Additionally, you double whammied yourself by drinking on an empty stomach, which is never a good idea. It allows the alcohol to hit you much harder and faster than usual, plus it's very rough on your stomach and liver.

The FDA lists the typical side effects of Brintellix as possibly including nausea, dizziness, vision changes and constipation.

Ok well the hang over went away next day and my anxiety is still subsided. Very happy with brintellix so far.

So happy you shared this post! I have been on Brintellix (switch from cymbalta) for 2 weeks now and feel less anxious and significantly less depressed but I enjoy a cocktail (usually only one but sometimes 2) and was worried. Your reaction encouraged me to just live my life. Last night I had 2 cosmos and woke up to vomit in the middle of the night but felt fine in the am. I learned one was my limit...hope this experience helps others.

Thanks for your response , I haven't had a drink since and that hangover was only for the one day. I have winged myself off the drug too. It helped me through a bad patch. Will keep them handy in case I need it again. God Bless,

Had a beer last evening 0.33 L. At the same time it was 10th day I was on Brintellix. Upped the dose that morning to 10mg as per doctor. After getting home around 11PM, felt like my head was about to explode, swift vertigo and ensuing panic that this will drive me crazy. Went to bad, but sensation and panic in my head did not let me sleep. Just figured that this made my thoughts suicidal. I am living on the 9 floor, had some distant thought of jumping of it. However, it tool me some time to calm down with calming tea. Not sure if it was a beer or dosage increase or both.
