When taking a urine drug test, does oxycontin and oxycodone come up as the same drug? I took a 40mg oxycontin on a monday and was drug tested on thurs. I am tested once a month from my pain mangement dr. to make sure my oxycodone's are in my system. So will the 2 drugs show up as one or is there a differance in them with the drug test?

Oxycodone and oxycontin are exactly the same drug. "Contin" is just more time released is all.

Katy - AMEN AND HALLELUJAH to your post of 2/17/13!!! When I'm reading here to try to gather information, I feel like a teacher trying to decipher the writing assignments of second graders! Actually, I have an 8-year-old grandson who just finished second grade and the spelling, punctuation, grammar and sentence structure are all much better in his papers!:-)

Find a family member. With clean urine. Have them oee in it. Microwave it for 30-45 secs. Wrap in aluimin foyle and then wrap around paper towel put I n. Sandwhich bag and put in sac area. For ladies , put near vagina keep there till tested . Works everytime.

I am so sorry for you feeling so bad...bless your heart Cindy. I just got out of the hospital after being in there for a little over a month due to breaking both of my legs. Before than I was in chronic pain in my side that they can't find a reason for with IBD on top of that. So, many surgeries. I so understand where you are coming from. I will be praying for you my friend. God bless you and keep you in Jesus' loving arms.

Yes, yes it will. I smoke pot and I am not allowed to with my pain mgmt contract SOOOO, I have someone pee for me, and I smash some of my meds and put it in the pee and ta da... been doing it for more than a yr now..... not a PROBLEM! ;)

Probably not due to the time frame but I would suggest you don't do that again. Take what your Dr. prescribes or you will get kicked to the curb. They don't want problems w/ the DEA and I don't blame them.

That is very sad for your husband. Yes Dr's tend to automatically classify anyone who's urine shows anything besides what they are supposed to be taking. Dr's are not supposed to do that,,its professional misconduct & i would be reporting him to the college that regulates ( in Canada its the College Of Physicians & Surgeons) However with that being said ,I would be livid with his Dr. After being a patient for that many years & then your Dr treat you like that is disgusting ! I would demand another drug test ,via blood or hair sample. If you can afford a drug test I would be going & getting an independent screen done.( any lab can do it but you will likely have to pay) For your Dr just to assume is disgusting ! And once he does get a clean sample I would demand one every time he was at Drs,,Just to prove your point. Then I would demand a written apology..Good Luck

My Dr treated me like a crack head as well. We are bring s used and something needs to be done as I need my Quaility of life back. As I can't sit back much longer in this pain.Nothing else works now I have had 3 oxy's 80's & 4 20 neo for break through pain to nothing I dam near died I live in CHRONIC PAIN AND HAVE NO HELP.

No, they will both come up in the opiate colum. They may send it out (mine does) to see if the correct amount is in your system. My Dr splits my urine for that reason, they do a dip strip in office and send out sample for amount in my system

I take oxycontin 40mg. I didn't like it either when Purdue changed the formula from oc to op. But the thing is that there were ALOT of people out there killing their selves by ODing on the drug. And just for that purpose alone I am glad for the change.

why and how can a company cause thousanda of people to suffer changing the oxycontin oc to the op , knowing that they are not half as good as the oc kind someone is tired of hurting when i was gave these not knowing what they would do to me know i suffer every day of my life purdue only cares about money not people, but wow who is shocked , dealing with it it made me want nothing to do with purdue, ever.

I'm a flight paramedic and also an RN. And when we do drug urinalysis we do a 12-panel Right when the sample is provided. Then we send it to the lab for further test if anything comes up abnormal. We don't test to see if your taking the meds. We have strict rules we have to follow for DEA Logs. If your Dr. Gives hydrocodone/oxycodone etc. you cant have any other drug in your system period if it's not prescribed. We give 1 warning and if it happens a second time then your dismissed immediatly. Because we have to send the test to the DEA and we will get in trouble then. And the DEA will shut the doctor down and investigate. If you truly have pain you shouldn't be pushing the envelope. I've had chronic pain from arthritis since 12yrs old that's the reason I'm sharing info. About how the office runs here in my state. It varies in different states how the DEA controls the opioids so don't think anybodys info applies to you unless you know what state they are in. Here the state law states that we don't have to tell you why we are dismissing you and probably applies to others aswell. So be smart don't be using a pain doc. To get high that's what we suspect if you're DUA comes up dirty.
