I'm trying to find out the cost of one pill of samsca (tolvatan). My family member is on it for hyponaturemia & has cancer as well. I'm not happy with the rehab this person is in as a result of the cost of this med.

Where can I fill a prescription for Tolvaptan or Hyponat 15mg in India and how much does it cost?

Given the cost of Samsca, we had to look for an alternative to treat my mother's hyponatremia. I found this and similar articles:

It turns out that urea is a much lower cost - a month's supply is about the same cost as one Samsca - and has been used in Europe for decades to treat hyponatremia and has similar efficacy to Samsca. We found a supplier by the name of "ure-Na" and a nephrologist familiar with the drug (actually its a medical food, so can be purchased over-the-counter). Three months in and so far, so good!

Hi. My father is suffering from Acute Polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)... I heard that this medicine inhibits the growth of cysts in the kidney.... His creatinine is at 5.4 now.... Can you please tell me where Tolvaptan is available?

Tolvaptan 15mg by Zydus Cadilla (brand name Hyponat O) is approx. GBP 4 for 10 Tabs. 30mg is almost double. So it's by a different company but same drug ingredient and potency. It is a reputed company with huge exports to US and Europe and almost all plants are UD-FDA approved. (I have been prescribed it for Hyponatremia as I am on a no salt diet due to polycystic kidneys).

Tolvaptan has been prescribed in UK for my father who has hyponatremia. He was told it would be extremely expensive here. What sort of price is it in India and would they send it to us or to our doctor?
Is it as safe as the one in the UK - made by the same company - or to the same standards? Thank you

Just found out that there is a brand of Tolvaptan tablets in India 'Hyponat O' from Zydus Cadilla that is priced INR 390/- for 10tabs of 15mg, i.e approx $ 0.50 per tab. Others are approx same price for 4's in India. Available even online on Netmeds, 1mg etc.

even I have PKD (early stage, diagnosed 3yrs back with creatinine still at 1.0-1.1) and my Nephrologist has prescribed Tolvaptan today but only 7.5mg a day (1/2 tab). The price in India is approx 100/-, i.e. 1.5$ a tab

The cost of. tolvaptan drug is 15 mg 99 rs and 30 mg is 189 rs in indian rupees. The drug is usfda approved

Just wanted to know what medical condition of the kidney he is being treated for. Don't know of any renal condition that can totally be reversed by tolvaptan.

Lori, I'd be careful about Tolvaptan for PKD. Friends of mine have suffered permanent kidney damage from Tolvaptan. How much will you take? How often? Who's monitoring your creatanine and liver functions? How will you know if it's effective? Finally, are you ready to pee every hour on the hour for the rest of your life, day and night? If you do this, please see a nephrologist who understands this medication and it's side effects.
