It is generally defined as a sodium concentration of less than 135 mmol/L (135 mEq/L), with severe hyponatremia being below 120 mEq/L. Symptoms can be absent, mild or severe. Mild symptoms include a decreased ability to think, headaches, nausea, and poor balance. I'm trying to find out the cost of one pill of samsca (tolvatan). My family member is on it for hyponaturemia & has cancer as well. I'm not happy with the rehab this person is in as a result of the cost of this med. ## cost is $300 per day-- this is usual with all new drugs -- price declines as it is produced ## The price, of course, can vary depending on where the medication is obtained, it will not always be exactly the same at all pharmacies or care facilities, however most drugs are quite expensive. The main use of this drug is to treat, as you said, those low blood sodium levels. You may wish to ask if there are any alternative treatment options available. I inherited it from either my mother or father and my daughters have a 50% chance of acquiring it. No evidence they do. It results in the growth of cysts on the kidneys until the number and size of them shuts down the kidneys, necessitating dialysis and/or transplants. Years ago I checked in with my family doctor and asked if I was fit enough to backpack across the Gobi Desert in Mongolia. He ordered blood tests and was alarmed by my creatinine reading. My mother's sodium levels are below normal levels, so the Dr prescribed one tab twice daily. As this is very costly, can you suggest an alternative medicine? ## Hi, Tapati! I'm very sorry to hear about your mother's problem. Do they know what's caused her sodium to drop so low? There are other similar medications available, but I am not sure which ones are on the market in the India. The best suggestion I can make would be to ask her doctor, or a pharmacist/chemist. They should be able to help you find a cheaper option, if there is one there. It does need to be treated, or this condition may result in permanent damage. Hi, My name is Derek. In the summer of 2014 I had a grand mall, 2 1/2 min long and almost bit 2 big chunks out of my toung. Not fun coming too and you're totally out and surrounded by a group of dudes you've never seen before. I was 50 and the hos stay of 3 days was chalked up too alcohol withdrawal. Funny thing is my sodium was low but that was ignored, these seizures have continued and it's now June of 2017. Approx. 9 911 calls and ambulance rides wit about 5 weeks combined in various hospitals no one in Casper Wy. Has been able to tell me what is going on. I still struggle with my sodium level. A few weeks back I totally quit the seizure medication I was being treated with. I haven't had any other seizures since. It's July now. A neurologist said I have a low tole...
