Clonazepam....questions
UpdatedSo I've had displaced anxiety for 10 years...never took a thing...about 2 years ago it became unbearable. They gave me 1 MG of xanax and I took about .25 every 3-4 days...I ran out 6-8 months later and the doctor said xanax causes seizures even if you take a small dose...so they gave me lorazepam, and I tried it 2 times it was terrible. ..so they gave me clonazepam...1 MG. .that was 4 months ago and I still have 12 pills out of 30...but I still.have anxiety however I hear how horrible these meds are and addictive, and that makes my anxiety worse..so I take .25 of my 1 MG tablet if I absolutely need it, which means a lot of times I don't take.and fight the anxiety. This is exhausting me and I really need something to help when I feel anxious that isn't addictive so I'll actually take it and not struggle all the time with my anxiety. ..I keep seeing people say it's so addictive and yet the doctor said.it.was way better than xanax and actually used.to treat/prevent seizures. ...so I guess I'm confused why peons a it can give you seizures and withdrawal symptoms. When I first got the meds and I looked up dosing there were post a king 3 pills a day...so I guess I have a hard time believing my 30 pills every 4-6 months is going to do serious harm??

OMG my auto correct is awful...I meant to say I've heard taking up to .25 per day can give you seizures, and when I looked up dosing people were taking 3 MG a day...
I have been on Xanax for 15 years. The best way to control anxiety is to take a small dose 2-3 times a day. As long as you maintain an active prescription, you shouldn't be concerned with seizures.
Hello, Megmeg! How are you?
It is a sudden withdrawal from such medications that creates the risk of seizures, if someone has been taking one regularly for a long period of time.
As to something non-addictive that can help with anxiety, you may want to ask your doctor about trying Prozac, it is an SSRI antidepressant that's often used for anxiety, but it is not addictive and doesn't create the risk of seizures. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight loss.
Is there anything else I can help with?
