Hello, Kelly! How are you? I am very sorry about the issues you're dealing with.
The reason they tell you not to go out in the sun, and not to take hot baths/showers, is because it can cause too much of the medication from the patch to be released at once, whenever you get hot, or overheat, according to NIH reports.
However, you could still do most activities, if you are careful to stay cool and sheltered, out of direct sunlight.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
And yes, there are lozenges and tablets available that you could ask your doctor about trying.
Is there anything else I can help with?
