UpdatedIecently been told by my pharmacy that Cartia xt is no longer on the market. My physician precribed Dialtiazen as a replacement. This has led to numerous side effects previously not related to cartia xt. I'm looking for some adice !

i have been taking cartia xt 240mg xt capsules for over 20 years. Suddenly I went to see the doctor because both my feet are puffy and very swollen. she said that cartia xt is known to have this side effect, but did nothing for me except give me lasix, is there no replacement that is generic for me?
Everyone having problems trying to find a replacement for Cartia XT. It needs to be made again and fast IMO. Still trying different genertics
I too was just switched from Cartia xt to diltiazem, and have felt sickish' ever since starting it last Tuesday.....I'm even having chest pain/shortness of breath, feel almost like I have the flu each time I take it and really weak...I'm so upset because I work at JCPenny and this time of year is diffcult enough at my job, without this new added problem...I was feeling perfect until the med switch!!
My Dad has taken Cartia XT for many years with no side effects. Now for the last couple years, they have tried him on numerous other meds to replace the Cartia. Each time, he has encountered side effects. He is currently having trouble with his vision, which we suspect is from the medicine. His insurance co. tells him that they can't get Cartia XT anymore and the local pharmacy doesn't carry it because they say it is too expensive. I just want him to have his Cartia back so he can finally feel better.
I am in North Carolina and do not have any problems getting Cartia XT 120
I take Cartia XT so it is still on the market.I was on Diltiazem, but the doctor put me on the Cartia.
Re: Vickie (# 6)
Yes this is an old thread, It was off market for a only a year. It was made by Watson, then they got bought out by Novartis and stopped production for a year to get new plant certified. I bought a year supply out of pocket when it came back and have been rotating just in case it stops production again.
