Buspar (busiprone) & False Positives - Yes, They Can Happen (Page 5)

I've noticed a-lot of poeple out there are asking about buspar, & false postives.. as well as it's relation to xanax (alprazalam). Let me start off by saying that my husband is prescribed 15mg. buspar (I believe 1 3x a day) along w/some other drugs from his pyschologist such as ambien, and depacote. I can state that I took his buspar during a horrible anxiety/panic attack (also known as busiprone) and I also need to mention I go to a methadone clinic. After taking the buspar, I went to clinic to take my usual drug-screen (also let me mention I was receiving takehomes, only going once every 2 weeks as I'd never failed a drug test), thinking nothing of it as I'd read they don't show up as anything. Well, WRONG for me.. my drug test came back 100% positive for benzo's.. I had no xanax, valium, clonpazen(sorry about the spelling there) in my system, etc. My husband also had the same problem with one of his urine drug screen's at the methadone clinic we both attend for a postive on benzo's when all he had taken was buspar & ambien, which he both has valid prescriptions for. They broke both our tests down and they came back showing up as Nordiazepam, and Oxeazepam on both -- Unfortunately our clinic is under debate about them showing up because of the way the break-down showed up. All I can say is if anyone has ever had a false-positive for buspar, please let me know. I'm trying to prove to my clinic that in come cases they can show up, maybe it has to do with certain people. I dunno? But, it happened to me and my husband both.

NO MATTER WHAT DOSE YOU TAKE NEVER .. NEVER TAKE BENZOS AND METHADONE TOGETHER! IT IS SO VERY DANGEROUS! I have had 3 friends DIE from this! That's even stupid for anyone to suggest someone to do so! YOUR NOT A DOCTOR!

Hi my name is rose. I am also on a methadone clinic. I am also on drug court and the other day i failed for a benzo but i know i am clean but in my defense i took a urine the same day at the methadone clinic and did not fail that test. After reading this and other posts online i now see it must be due to my script of buspirone. But the phych at the clinic perscribes my buspirone but never warned me of any false positives i may have. but i tested positive too that day in drug court and could not figure it out. Good luck.rc

I have failed 5 drug tests for benzos and i take buspar and im scared cuz i have a confirmation and they said there's no way they can test for buspar. I am on probation and my da says there is no way i could have a false positive. I am a year and 3 months clean off methamphetamine and pills aren't my problem. How do i prove to my da and judge that it's my buspar doing this?

The people at Bronx Lebanon do not believe that buspar causes a positive reaction for a benzo so they insist that I come here six days a week. I just left another program at Montefiore that honors buspar

I am in a federal half way house and my THC line is so faint. They're gonna send it off. The only med I'm on is buspar. I don't smoke marijuana, not even cigs.

So I went to take a mouth swab test at a job I was applying for and both tests showed positive for benzos. I don't take drugs let alone smoke. And I don't even know what's benzos are. I took two tests and it still showed up, I don't understand.

Yes it is only prescribed.. Therefore I'm not POSITIVE it's a narcotic, but I believe so.

I have been clean from benzos for about 4 months... I was having really baf cravings do i took a busiprine n had a false positive for barbiturates.. How is this possible??

I have the same problem showing Benzo's in my urine after taking Busbar. The office is now refusing to give me any pain meds at all. They refuse to even consider anyother medications could cause this false positive. The opioid crisis has caused so many problems for those of us that truly need medications. My quality of life has just ended, back to nothing but pain e everyday all day.

benzos can stay in your system for up to 30 days after each 4 mlgs you consume!!

Ambien IS a benzodiazapine. If you ingest a, "benzo," you fill fail for, "benzos."

My daughter tested positive for benzo's taking buspar. She is also currently detained for a violation of her probation because of it, now I'm left to prove it was her meds causing this false positive.

Mike,my name is KJS IAM 63 years old.i have been taking both drugs for 30 years and yes the mix can be deadly but your wife's dose is fairly low,and if she takes a responsible dose of Xanax,being no more then 1mg .with all my years of experience she should be OK.please. Remember Xanax is ;he of the hardest drugs to detox off of..Hope your wife gets better.

Happened to me multiple times! It does happen! Buspirone will show up on urine screens.

A false positive on buspar has happened to my husband as well to where his dr is making him come evey to weeks to be sure there is no benzos in his system and he don't take anything unless he is prescribe them .

I also go to a methadone clinic and I have been testing positive for barbiturates I do not take any barbiturates but I do take BuSpar I'm wondering if that's not why

Yes i have had a false positive for benzos while taking buspirone. My therapist gave me a urine drug test and i was prescribed NO NARCOTICS. I had prescriptions for buspirone, ambien, depacote, lemictle and tested positive for benzos even though i had never taken any kind of benzo. It was later determined that the buspirone showed a false positive in my results.
