My mother aged 66 is having LDL cholestrol 170, serum cholestrol 234 & HDL, Triglycerides 66 & VLDL 13. Doctor is advised to take Atorva 10 mg for 3 months (alernate days). Is there any side effects. Shall she discontinue after three months. Kindly advise more details.

This contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin, it is most commonly used to help lower cholesterol.

Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and joint/muscle aches.

As to when she should discontinue it, that is something that her doctor should help her decide.

Learn more Atorva details here.

Is there anything else I can help with?

I am nearing 70 years and taking Telmikind -AM as advised by Doctor since last 18 months as my blood pressure had zoomed to 160/90 but now it is setling down to140-150 by 90 . How long should I continue this medicine? The lower reading (systolic) seems to be still high . Kindly advice me for further action.
