Adderall Manufactured By Teva Not Working (Page 21)

Updated

I have had two refills of Adderall 20 mg that was manufactured by Teva/barr (Teva) and it seems to have much less medication in each pill. Refills by another manufacturer work. This is ridiculous, and where do we report Teva and who can check each pill for amount for medication? I would gladly donate some of my worthless ones to the FDA?

Absolutely agree with you. The recent Adderall wave- regardless of manufacturer- lost most of the previous "umfuff " factor..like they purposely shorted the amp portion.

We are not Dr.'s and what we post should only be taken as personal experience.

Try them all and see what works and ensure your Doc specifies it on the script!

Good luck!

Re: Edward (# 400) Expand Referenced Message

No. It has nothing to do with brand vs. generic Adderall. It is comparing "Adderall" vs. Vyvanse.

Basically, it says that Adderall (brand or generic..ha) has a 3:1 ratio of Dex to Levo compared to Vyvanse. Bottom line is the Dex is the "feel good" dopamine enhancer and the Levo is the adrenaline side. You'll get the jittery feeling from the Levo but not as much as the feel good Dex.

Vyvanse was Shire's way to ensure the med could not be abused (it goes through your digestive system very slowly) like Adderall (although the latest Adderall seems to be missing most of that Dex!). They also came out with this as Adderall XR lost its patent and it was a great way to maximize loss profits (Vyvanse ain't cheap)!

With this said, I am NOT a Dr. and all meds should be discussed with your Doc. Find the one that works for you and ensure your Doc writes it on the script.

Good luck!

What concerns me concerning generic meds:

When a generic firm decides to file an application to the FDA for manufacturing a medication, they are required to conduct "tests" to confirm that the bioavailability is commensurate with the brand name product.

They must also show that their product's bioequivalency is satisfactory with FDA standards.

My concerns:

The "tests" are conducted solely by the generic firm.

The process and results are not made public.

One wonders if there is appropriate external and internal validity.

Also concerning that we the public, are not able to view the data, and more importantly, the specific --process-- in which testing was conducted.

Then after their product is approved, FDA oversight to ensure quality standards is very poor.

You would need to be poignantly naïve to think that the FDA is available to oversee these, mostly, Third World country firms in an appropriate way.

This is simply profoundly concerning to me.

Anyone had any experience with global, impax or Sandoz? I am simply in a quagmire, as I can't find a good generic IR that works

Re: Dave (# 404) Expand Referenced Message

Hi there. I am in the same boat as everyone else. It's so frustrating to go through this every month. I have tried just about every generic and here's the deal....
I have found that Corepharma and Sandoz brands to work well with little to no side effects. Sandoz is hard to find and Corepharma is in fact a done deal... no longer making it. Some places still have inventory left.

During the past three months I have had the following:
July - Teva 20mg IR ( I found this to be very weak and found myself yawning )
August - Corepharma 20mg IR (Again, this manufacturer works well for me and does exactly what it should do...smooth, optimal focus, no side effects)

**September - Aurobindo 20mg IR ( This was the ONLY thing available at most places so I said screw it and gave it shot. Despite what most have said, I was PLEASANTLY surprised with the results. I would actually say it's better than Corepharma in terms of optimal focus, positive mood etc.. )

I would rate them like so:

1. Aurobindo
2. Corepharma
3. Sandoz
4. Teva

I have NOT tried Mallinckrodt Generic but that seems to have the most consistent BAD, TERRIBLE feedback so I hope the notes above help you out.

I will also say that altering the dosage 10mg vs 15mg vs 20mg does make a difference from brand to brand in terms of how effective it is.

Good luck and keep us posted on your findings!

Based on the complaints online, Aurobindo and Mallinkrock are the worst. I'm happy that the Aurobindo manufactured generics work for you though.

I too have been having rapid heartbeat & very bad anxiety with the Teva brand. I hope they will change whatever it is they have been putting in it & make it the way they used to or I'm going to start requesting the brand Adderall!!

Re: James (# 384) Expand Referenced Message

Hi James. I went to the FDA Website to file a report about the Teva drug but I couldn't find where to do that. Could you please tell me where I go to do that once I get on their website? Thank you so much!!

Dave (# 404) for me personally I've only had Teva and aurobino brand , I can say for me the Teva brand seems to be far more effective then aurobindo I recently refilled at CVS and was extremely disappointed in them they almost had the exact opposite effect on my add I'll never get them again always ask what generics are on hand . Teva is also cheaper $5 for 90 compared to aurobindo which was $12 with my insurance

Re: Grendel (# 411) Expand Referenced Message

This is true.

It seems strange to me that Teva has brand and generic adderall. How are they different?

Re: Nick (# 413) Expand Referenced Message

I had my doc write a trial script for the brand so I can see if it's any better. It turns out they did more harm than good; for the two days I took it I was a walking disaster. For me the s***ty generic teva works better than their brand.

RE: How to file a complaint (It is very easy, and takes less than five minutes)

For Lucy, or -anyone- who wishes to file a complaint with the FDA, which I encourage anyone who has experienced negative effects from Teva, simply click the below link, or google "report a drug to the FDA".

MedWatch Online Voluntary Reporting Form

Re: Hamster (# 396) Expand Referenced Message

I did not like the fact you could not "regulate" the dosage. (of Vyvanse)

I was using Vyvanse for a while and I regulated the dosage as such:

1) Opened the capsule and poured some into a spoon and closed the capsule. But since the capsule can break I would pour an entire capsule into a small med bottle and then sprinkle some out on a spoon.

2) Take the spoon and mix it into a small amount of very hot water or coffee and drink however since it doesn't completely dissolve then put more water into the cup and drink it.

or

using the spoon lick the powder off it and then swallow hot water or coffee.

It worked for me! :)

I just started a couple of months ago with the 20mg generic Adderall and started with Aurobindo from CVS and it seemed to work pretty good and then I went for a refill and all the CVS 's were out and I tried Walgreens and they gave me Teva brand and it doesn't seem to be nearly as good as the Aurobindo. Shouldn't we be able to specify what brand of generic we want? All the pharmacies I've called or visited are either out or can't get a certain brand generic. Totally frustrated. What the heck am I supposed to do? I told my Dr. but they don't know what to do about it. I would really like to try Sandoz.

I am currently trying adzenys, which seems to be working pretty well, helluva expensive though, over 300 for a months supply

I am the initial writer of this and it has truly proved what we all have confirmed. The s*** is no good period. Now let me also give all the bad news, I also never had a cavity period. Yet I am now left with two front teeth and 6 bottom middle teeth. They just got loose and fell out - the reason Adderall; a methamphetamine mouth from Adderall. Look it up, it's the identical formula. One and the same. So you will lose your teeth. These damn people know yet no side effect. I'm trying to get all of you to help me figure out how to start this legal suit.

I know this is an old post but I just recently got Teva 20mg. and was really annoyed that it didn't work nearly as well as the Aurobindo. Granted the Aurobindo did give me slight headaches at the end of the day but worked much better. I new to this as my Dr. just diagnosed me with ADHD so I'm only going on 4 months of taking it. Had no idea of the differences in generics. I did fill out the form for the FDA. Problem is I can't seem to find any other pharmacy that has anything else.
