Well scientific research has proven that we all dream all the time, even if this site doesn't think we do. We just don't remember them those times we think this site doesn't.

I have been taking Lyrica and Amitriptylinfor a couple of months now . I have fibromyalgia and these two drugs together have given me so much relief from pain and i can now have true restful sleep. I have to thank the FDA for finally approving Lyrica for use for fibromyalgia.

I am glad they are working so well for you Chris. Some people have great results with these meds and some don't, it depends on your body and what is causing your pain.

Many doctors were using Lyrica to treat these types of pain way before the FDA approved it for them, because they had learned from experience that they helped some people.

It is legal for a doctor to prescribe a drug for off-label uses, it is just not legal for a company to advertise or promote it to treat something it is not approved for, but when something like this does help, it is not necessary for your doctor to wait for the FDA approval to prescribe it for that.

Just FYI. I've heard that thing about people always dream but you just don't remember. I had a detailed sleep study done on me with the full head electodes etc (27 I think) According to my doctors I never go into the stages of sleep (3 and 4) where you dream. That is they told me I don't remember dreams because I don't have them. Amitryptyline had the same affect on me. I started dreaming.

from what I have heard and read some people don't go into REM sleep when they have Fibromyalgia and thus your body doesn;t get time to repair it selt so PAIN is involed But they can't explain why.

Well there are some theories as to why this pain happens, basically you are exhausting your body and stressing the muscles and nerves. Then since you don't get into the deep sleep stages, because of your pain, they do not get the needed time to relax and recover, which is what your body normally does when you are sleeping normally.

A friend of mine just experienced this after a recent car wreck. She had continuous pain in her upper back and neck, but all the tests the hospital and her doctor did showed no reason for it. They basically just wanted to brush her off as being a pill seeker and ignore her problem.

She finally got her doctor to agree to send her to a specialist and after he did some checking and then talked to her about how long, often and how restful her sleep was, he was able to get to the root of the problem.

In the car wreck she had damaged some muscle tissue and irritated the nerves in that area of her body. Since the pain and accompanying stress kept her from sleeping normally, they were not getting the chance to rest and recover as they normally would.

On top of the sleep issues, her job also requires repetitive motion, so her nerves and muscles desperately needed that time to recover and they just weren't getting it.

He actually put her on a sleeping pill for a week, to ensure that she got some of the deep sleep that she desperately needed, then he put her on Cymbalta during the day to help with her nerve pain and the antidepressant Trazadone at night to help her develop a regular sleep routine.

She has had great results from this and her pain improved in a little over a week.

I do understand what you are going through, as I also suffer a pain condition and thus don't sleep well and deeply, either.

You could try talking to your doctor about something to help you sleep better, you might find that it will make a huge difference in your daytime pain levels.
