Is there any reason why name brand Ziac has been unavailable for the last 8 months? I was on the 10/6.5 dosage and it worked perfectly. The generic does not work as well with negligible results. I contacted Teva and all they say is it's on long term back order. ## I can't find any information on the shortage, they aren't required to report it to the FDA, so there is nothing listed there. Have you tried any alternative medications?

I've been taking the perscription drug Ziac for hypertension for 2 months. In the last week I have developed bad heartburn. Is it o.k. to take Pepcid Complete while taking Ziac? ## It is perfectly safe to take Pepcid or any other type of antacid with Ziac; however, you really should read the indications and interactions. There is a whole list of medications that cannot be mixed with Ziac. Pepcid or antacids are not one of them. ## That is actually incorrect, taking some antacids with Ziac may cause an elevation in your calcium levels, due to the calcium carbonate in the antacid, and they Hydrochlorothiazide in the Ziac. The FDA has issued prominent warnings about this danger. Additionally, Hydrochlorothiazide taken with magnesium in the Pepcid Complete could result in a laxative typ...

Is Ziac medication will damage my heart in a long run, my pulse rate before was between 60 and 70. Now that I'm taking this Ziac for my high blood pressure my pulse rate is between 47 and 55 usually it's low in the morning. My ex-husband was taking Ziac also for his high blood pressure and his pulse rate become so low from 44 down to 38, he went to the emergency room right away and the doctor decided to put a pacemaker connected to his heart. ## Hello, Rose! How are you? It is normal for this medication to lower your pulse rate, somewhat, that's part of how it helps your blood pressure. It relaxes the blood vessels, but should not do actual damage. If they installed a pacemaker for your ex-husband, then it's likely they found that his going that low was due to some other...

Ziac 5/6.25 mg Mylan Generic l have been taking this medication about 3 yrs now and become therapeutic, but 2 months ago l went to walmart for refill and was given Unichem generic which l have being reacting badly to it. CVS told me they have it, l switched but only gave me 15 days worth and now saying is back ordered or may be discontiuned. What is going on with our healthcare, is it all about american company or the benefit patient derive. lf it is necessary to switch generic brands then they should evaluate the potent and effectiveness of the new generic before putting it on the market ## Unfortunately, under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984, the FDA allows generics to differ from the name brand by as much as plus, or minus 20% of the active ingredients. The FDA considers that to be an a...

I have 90 pills of 5/6.25 Ziac tabs. I have a new scrip for 10/6.25 Ziac. My question is can I take two 5/6.25 ziac in place of 1one 10/6.25 ziac until my old scrip is used up?Thanks ## You would be doubling up on the Bisoprolol, which may cause problems, such as severe lowering of your heart rate and hypotension. Learn more Ziac details here. And conversely, it you stop taking this dosage abruptly to try to go back down to the regular dose, you may experience a rebound effect, which might elevate your heart rate and blood pressure. Have you consulted your doctor about doing this? It really would be best if you just switch to the new dosage.

Can Ziac and Adderall be taken together? Both of the labels warn against taking with one another but neither my doctor or pharmicist said anything?! ## Sometimes, your doctor and pharmacist have to weigh the benefits against the risks of using certain medications, together. The main reason they advise against using these together is because Adderall can actually raise your blood pressure. this site is not medical professionals, however, your doctor may not be concerned about your using them together if your blood pressure is not severely high or is under control. Have you tried asking them about your concerns?

I have been getting the generic version Ziac 5-6.25 for years from Prescription Solutions. Now they say it is unavailable with no future date of availability. What is going on? ## I have no information on why there is a shortage, but there is one currently reported by Sandoz, they list it as being backordered. Have you spoken to your doctor? They may be able to suggest an alternative medication, or prescribe separate tablets of the Bisoprolol and Hydrochlorothiazide.

I was prescibed 100mg/25HCTZ of Losartan. I have been taking 5mg/6.5HCTZ of Ziac. I was concerned that the Doc started me off with such a high dose of 100 mg of Losartan when the internet says the starting dose is 50mg. My BP went up hovering around 140/90 while on the Ziac. Any thoughts? ## Hi Charlie, I'm sure your doctor only prescribed what he thought would benefit you, however it is your body and if you are not comfortable with the dosage you should definitely speak with him. He may have prescribed you a larger dose to compete with the Ziac that could still be lingering in your system.
