Perhaps one month after starting Xarelto, 20mg, I had developed a sore neck and knot in the mid knuckle of my right hand. Within 60 days I have trouble walking, a severe pain right hip, right knee, left foot. and random pains elsewhere. I take it because of Afib, now controlled by pacemaker and an ablation. How do I get off this stuff? ## I've been taking xarelto for about a month from a dvt in my right leg , I also have developed a pain the left side of my neck... It's really bad it feels like I slept wrong but has not went away for a week now.. Just trying to figure out if it's the blood thinner? I have been on 15mg of Xarelto along with 40mg of Crestor for approximatley 8 months and have suffered through a distended abdomen and burning and aching in my hips, legs and feet. After blood tests and scans ruled out anything sinister I chose to stop taking Crestor altogether. Within a week my abdomen was no longer distented and much of the pain in my hips and legs reduced to a point where I actually got some sleep. I have now started back doing my walking and concentrating on eating everything right but my weight inexplicably is going up and up. I have also noticed my tension type headache and tinnitus which I have had both for 11 years has intensified and difficult to ignore. I can only think the weight gain can be caused by Xarelto...there seems to be no other explanation and I hav...

I have afib and after ep study they put me on xarelto and diltiazem cd. The channel blocker has completely kept my heart rhythms in check. I would like to get off the xarelto as I believe the joint pain in my hips and the lack of energy when I exercise is caused by the xarelto. My blood pressure is normal. Is the xarelto solely for stroke protection and will it be too dangerous to get off it? I am 73 and otherwise very healthy. ## Hello, Martin! How are you doing? Those side effects could be due to either medication, actually. The Xarelto is used to help prevent blood clots throughout your body, not just those that may cause a stroke. When you have A-fib, it can sometimes cause clots, so medications like this are often given. However, you should speak to your prescriber about the side e...

My husband started Xarelo Dec 21. He is having a lot of hip/leg/knee pain, and we've been told the drug is breaking down the DVT clots and setting up inflammation in his body as a reaction. He is taking hydrocodone around the clock for this pain. What to do? How long will this last? Are others dealing with this? ## Hello, Jan! How is your husband doing? Yes, pain in various joints and muscles can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. He may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and easy bruising. Side effects are usually transient and improve, once someone's body gets used to a medication, but that can take 4 to 5 weeks. ## He's been on the drug since Dec. 21, so 20 days out, he's getting a little better. He just went on the one-a-day dose of...

I'm a 49yr old female and had a DVT that caused two large lateral PE. After genetic testing and many other tests they are happy to blame the Birth control pill I was taking along with a 5 hour car ride. I am 3months on Xarelto and my side effects are back pain, hip joint pain and my sleeping is off. I have a high tolerance for pain so I have been dealing with it. I was told if all goes well with the test by my 6 month I will be released from taking Xarelto. I hope my pulmonary doctor is telling me the truth as I find him to say things he knows I want to hear. ## I am very sorry about the problems you've experienced. Those can be typical side effects of Xarelto, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache increased risk of bleeding and easy bruising....

The neck stiffness started while on Xarelto. After switching to Eliquis is the pain spread throughout my body. Into my back, my hips, my legs, the back of my knees, just throughout my whole body. I cannot sleep at night nor can I hardly move during the day. I am desperately looking for an alternative to any of these blood thinners. it seems like no one can really give me the correct combinations off supplements. I am open for any suggestions. thank you so very much! ## Hello, Sam! How are you? There really is no combination of supplements that can be guaranteed to work. Some are known to cause blood thinning, but no testing has been done to show that they are as effective as actual drugs used for that purpose. Have you ever tried Warfarin/Coumadin? Many people manage to take it, without...
