Why Does Lyrica Cause Weight Gain

Does anyone know if you gain more weight as you increase the milligrams of Lyrica. I've gone from 150mg a day to 600 & still may have to increase, I know weight gain is a side effect but does it ever level out or as I increase my milligram will I continue to gain? I've already gained 50lbs! ## Yes it can! I tried it & I believe I was allergic to it. I have been taking lyrica for 7 weeks now for severe nerve pain. I began to gain a lot of weight immediately but because the drug is so effective at relieving my pain, I was very reluctant to come off it. Three weeks ago I began the 5:2 diet - eating 500 calories on 2 non-consecutive days each week and normally for the rest of the week - ('The 5:2 Vegetarian Diet Made eZy' by Polly Fielding and `The 5:2 Diet: Single Serving Vegetarian Recipes' by Belinda Price are books I bought to help me). I am on Lyrica for CIDP. I have gained a tremendous amount of weight. Exercise is difficult as I can't stand for long at all. Has anyone else found they can't control their weight? Lyrica does work for myself. But I started having side effects. Double vision, being tired all the time, confusion, didn't even remember my age and that might be a good thing. But the drug is awesome for taking the nerve pain away. Hi I have been on lyrica 200g twice daily and since starting I have put on near two stone. I started slimming world while still on it but I am shifting now if it. I have herniated discs and sciatica. I was referred to a pain management doctor, who prescribed Lyrica. After reading all of these posts, and finding out the side effects, I'm not sure I want to take this medicine. Has anyone had good results with Lyrica, without these side effects? ## I have been using it for about7-8 months for nerve pain caused by intercostal neuritis and it has worked great for me. Hi, My name is Laurie and I am 44 yrs. Old. I have had 4 lower lumbar su rgeries. I live in chronic pain and take pain meds on a daily basis. However, for the last year or so my health has been very poor.
