Both get filled and paid for by my insurance, since they are different milligrams insurance covers it. My wife has been in pain management for 12 + years. She is on 20 mg x 3 a day. What is the protocol for filling long term prescriptions we are having a problem getting hers filled the way they are written. For the last year he has written her a prescription for six months (six different prescriptions dated monthly) since she is one of his most stable patients. Can you get a prescription from 2 different doctors that prescribe different mg dosage of Oxycontin and have insurance cover it? ## You may get away with it for awhile..But trust me it will catch up with you eventually. Now if you use different RX insurance companies or pay cash for one....then it may be a little harder for the insurance companies to track. I have been told over & over that my prescription for oxycontin has expired after 14 days. I have had this problem with CVS Caremark, Inc Mail Order Pharmacy numerous times. This went on throughout 2014 & in to 2015. They continue to screw with me. They will fill it, then they won't. I have been told by my Dr. who's office is in NV that it is valid for 30 days, but because I live in Arizona, CVS says it's expired after 14 days. I pulled a good one. My RXs were not in sync; one for extended release one week and the other immediate release the next. So I'm out waiting and going through hell.
