Zoloft Sertraline

Sertraline, sold under the brand name Zoloft among others, is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class.[9] The efficacy of sertraline for depression is similar to that of other antidepressants, and the differences are mostly confined to side effects. Sertraline is better tolerated than the older tricyclic antidepressants, and it may work better than fluoxetine for some subtypes of depression. Sertraline is effective for panic disorder, socia...

can pristiq and zoloft be taken together? ## Since they both have effects on Serotonin levels in the brain, using them together does increase the risk of someone developing Serotonin Syndrome, which can be very dangerous. Learn more Pristiq details here. Learn more Zoloft details here. So, if they are taken together, then the dosage must be taken under careful consideration by their doctor and they should be monitored closely to watch for any danger signs. Are you on both of these medications? ## I was in a severely bad way, now, mid-30's: Depression, GAD, and ADD/ADHD. will it be ok for me to stop taking 50ml zoloft.i have only taken it for 3 days and cant stand the sweats. ## There shouldn't be a problem if you have only been taking it for 3 days. In order for it to cause issues when you stop taking it abruptly, you usually have to have been taking it for a long period of time. Learn more Zoloft details here. You may, however, still experience some mild withdrawal symptoms. Have you talked to your doctor about the sweating? ## I was perscribed zoloft a week ago.100 mg for 3 days then 100mg twice a day. I started 100mg zoloft for 3 days then 100mg twice a day. Sees like too much for me. Its only been a week so can I just stop taking it safely? ## I would think that you should be fine since it's only been a week; however, I know everyone responds to these types of drugs differently, so I can't say for certain that you wont experience any withdrawal symptoms. If you do feel the need to take it slower, usually for drugs like this the safest way to stop taking them is to tapper off them, if possible. Some medications can be taken in fractions (actually cut into pieces) and these smaller pieces can be taken in place of the regular dose for a period of several weeks until the body is no longer dependent upon them. I hope this info helps! ## i stopped taking effexor 75mg on tuseday an...

Been on 75 mgs of Zoloft for 3 weeks, I was tired a lot before taking it but now I'm even more tired. My question is would maybe jumping up to 150 help this? I was told the tiredness was likely from depression (had all blood tests run to see if it was anything else. Thanks ## Hello, Gary! How are you feeling? Tiredness and drowsiness are among the possible side effects of Zoloft, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. However, it should wear off and improve in severity, as your body gets used to the medication, so it may take 4 weeks, or so. Raising the dosage could actually just make it worse. These medications tend to cause REM Onset Latency which means your don't enter the REM phase of sleep as fast as usual and don...

I think Zoloft is a junk pill & Xanax rules. What's your opinion on the two meds? ## I think that you're trying to compare two different medications that aren't comparable, at all. Xanax contains the active ingredient Alprazolam, it is a benzodiazepine that's most commonly used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. It has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness headache and irritability. Learn more Xanax details here. It is something that can have have an immediate effect, so it can be taken as needed, rather than on a regular basis. Zoloft, however, is an SSRI antidepressant, these can help with conditions such as depression, anxiety, and OCD, but they do not have the immediate effect that a benzodiazepine does, th...

I am a 75 year old male. As long as I can remember I have had problems with concentration, forgetting, start a project & not completing it, uneasy around people, find it difficult to carry on a conversation, i can go and ask directions when driving and cannot remember what I was told. I have checked the systems for ADHA on the Internet and I have about all the systems. I was slow in school as when I read something I could not remember what I had read. I have spoken to a number of Doctors on this but they more or less shrug it off. About 15 years ago a Doctor did put me on 50mg of Zoloft per day. I am still on 50mg and have at times bumped it up to 100mg but noticed no change. ANY ONE with any suggestions or have experienced some of what I have experienced I would sincerely appreciat...

Hi Everyone, Recently had a crisis situation where I had been tried on numerous sleeping pills unsuccessfully and with terrible anxiety and depression. Now on 50 mg of zoloft and 100 mg of seroquel together for 3 days. I seem to be able to feel when the depression begins to ease up already but I am experiencing terrible panic and heightened anxiety in its place. My anxiety focuses a lot on death and age as triggers but just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience of increased anxiety? Will it eventually go away? Also not sure if zoloft will help with my specific fear and anxiety so has anyone else used it successfully for a similar purpose? ## It takes time, but you should be able to call your Dr. hotline and they will help you. Hello Folks. I've been prescribed Zoloft after being on Vailum (for a inner ear issue). It made me tired. So I was switched to Paxil then Wellbutrin. These made me even more tired! So, I'm back on Zoloft. This is my 9th day. I now take at night. I now wake up at night (10 minutes or so), have dry-mouth, and fell very, very depressed, for no apparent reason. So, from the reading around I've done, looks like this is normal, and I will feel better soon? I've never suffered depression until now, so this is very, very frustrating and disconcerting. I'm scheduling appointments with psychologist and psychiatrist but not really finding answers on what to expect with this med. ## Hello, Chuck! How are you? Yes, such side effects can be normal and may occur for the first 4 to ...

I am on 50mg of Zoloft to help treat night eating disorder. I am very sensitive to meds - so expected some effects - but: - teeth grinding - elevates heart rate - shortness of breath I have started on Zoloft for the same issue before but stopped after a week or 2 because of the above. QUESTION: is anyone's experience similar and do those things "smooth out" as body adjusts (and about how long does that take?) Hoping to power through for a few weeks more this time to see of there's light at the end of the tunnel. ## Hello, Alex! How are you? Side effects are usually transient, so they'll taper off in severity and eventually go away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication. However, that could take 4 to 6 weeks. Unless they are so severe that you can't ...

Hi, all. I'm just beginning my third month of Zoloft and it's been quite a ride. First few weeks and as my dose increased, I had nearly every side effect listed: headache, nausea, dreams, dry mouth etc., but about week three I started "smelling the roses." I remember thinking I got my life back. I honestly still think it saved my life. Then for a solid 1.5 weeks, out of nowhere, I couldn't fall asleep longer than 2hrs a night. I would sleep 2 hrs and wake up and that was it. That's NOT like me, at all. Eventually, that passed. The fun Zoloft dreams ended about the same time. Now, I just feel totally lethargic. My #1 fav thing to do is lay in bed, lights off. I even called off work to do this all day yesterday. I had stuff to do to prep for work, decided I'd r...

I was prescribed Zoloft and I took it one time and it made me feel worse than better. Was it my nerves telling me that or was it a reaction to the pill? ## Zoloft and any other antidepressant is not a quick fix. It takes time for your body to adjust to the meds and sometimes the meds don't work for you. It is extremely important to have a doctor monitoring your medication so they can find the right one for you and the right dosage. I started taking Zoloft and I started feeling worse before it started working, but as the dr. gradually increased the dosage and my body adjusted...I feel better than ever! ## I had the same thing happen to me I felt so bad but I stuck with it and slowly my body ajusted and I feel like a normal person again. I have been taking zoloft 50 mg for 6 years now. I felt my anxiety coming back a little stronger so my doctor up my dose 25 mg. so I have been taking a total of 75 mg for 2 months. I have been having bad problems with dizziness and lightheadness. I thought that the side affects would diminish but they are strong as ever. Is this normal to have these side after 2 months? ## No, that's not normal. Most side effects usually last about 4 to 6 weeks, then taper off in severity, once your body had gotten used to the medication or dosage increase. Are you on any other medications? Has anything else changed in your diet or daily routine recently? ## I'm on Diovan for blood pressure which I've been taking for 10 years. I have noticed that even taking Zoloft my anxiety is still always...

Hi, I've been on zoloft 150 mg for a year and a half and it has been a blessing and allowed me to function again and be normal from my anxiety. I got a 4.0 gpa after barely being able to even attend class, however a month ago I got in a bad car crash I rear ended someone going 60 mph because everyone stopped and I dozed for a second- ever since the crash my anxiety has been horrible and back to how I was before zoloft- is it possible the Zoloft stopped working, any suggestions/thoughts would be helpful ## Also wanted to note besides some whiplash I was fine didn't want to get medical help because of $$ ## Do you have any idea why you dozed off while driving? According to NIH studies Zoloft can cause drowsiness, and dizziness as side effects... and 150mgs if a pretty high dosage....

Hi, was just wondering if anyone has ever had a psychotic episode from going off of zolfoft, I have and it was pure hell. My kids didn't think they would ever see me again. Please if anyone has had anything close to to this, please let me know of your experience Thanks ## Did you doctor say it was caused by going off the Zoloft? A sudden cessation, if you've been taking it for a long period of time, can cause depression and rebound effects, but a complete psychotic break would be very unusual. ## No my doctor didn't tell me that's what it was from, but my shrink did. Also, another friend of mie had the same thing happen. So yes, it's very common with Zoloft ## I as well had a psychotic episode after being prescribed Zoloft. I recently had genetic testing saying that Lexapro was not the best drug for me. So, I am being switched to Zoloft. This is day two of my transition- yeaterday went down to 10mg of Lexapro instead of 20mg and added 25mg of Zoloft. Does anyone have any experience? Just feeling off. Not liking it and need to know what to expect ## Hello, Angie! How are you? I've not done this switch, but I can tell you that feeling off for a bit is completely normal, when you go from one medication to another. You're likely experiencing some withdrawal symptoms from lowering the Lexapro accompanied by side effects from adding the Zoloft. It has had to meet the same quality and efficacy standards of all the others generic medications available on the U.S. market. This medication is an SSRi antidepressant and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and weight loss. Is there anything else I can help with? ## ok up Arobindo , the were twice dropped by our FDF And have several pages of concerns and failed quality standerds.
