How long before I notice a difference?
I have just started Metformin XR. Right now I am on the what I have been told is the lowest dose, 500 mgs at night. My question is, how long will it before I notice change in my Blood Sugar levels? ## It should start having some effect within a few days of starting it, but it may take a few weeks to reach its full level of efficacy. I found a white pill that is blank on one side and has MET 500 with a line dividing the pill in half; MET above the line and 500 below. Can you tell me what this is and how harmful it can be if taken by the wrong person? ## The pill in description is Metformin hydrochloride (500 mg); which is an oral anti-diabetic drug in the biguanide class. How harmful this drug can be (to a random individual) is determined by how healthy or unhealthy the individual taking it is and how many of these pills they consume.... There is no proven risk in humans during pregnancy. My doughter is 7 yr old & Type 1 diabetic since last 8-9 months, Recently docter has advised Tab GLYCOMET 250 twice daily along with insulin. Pl advice is it safe for her & what will be the side effect on her in terms of long run. Which other oral medicine is helpfull in case of Type 1 diabeties.
