I use the pill cypro it help me gain weight. I used it for my hay fever ad well I put on 7lbs slowly. But I have gained about 15lbs so far.it's. Not so bad. ## Hello, Margaret! How are you? Cyproheptadine is classified as an antihistamine and it is most commonly used to treat allergic reactions. The weight gain can be a side effect of it, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. However, like most side effects, they tend to be transient, so you may not always gain weight, while taking it, plus once you stop, you will most likely lose the weight. Is there anything else I can help with?

Was trying to order periactin weight gains my appetite is down i go maybe 2 days without bein able to eat i think its stress but i am losing to much weight ## Because Cyproheptadine (Periactin) is a prescription medication - at least here in the US - you will need to visit a doctor in order to get it prescribed. Something to keep in mind though is that if you intend on using this medication for weight gain, doing so may be a waste of time in my opinion, since Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine and weight gain is only listed a possible side effect that may or may not occur. So if you ask me, hoping for 1 side effect to pull through doesn't necessarily sound like a feasible approach to weight gain. Have you considered discussing appetite stimulants with your doctor or maybe even an he...

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum L.) appears to be the herb that is most often used to increase milk supply. It has been reported to be an excellent galactagogue for some mothers, and has been used as such for centuries. The few studies that have been done have had mixed results [Swafford 2000, Reeder 2011, Turkylmaz 2011] . Keep in mind that in almost all cases, non-pharmaceutical methods of increasing milk supply should be tried first, as there can be significant side effects from both herbal remedies and prescription medications used to increase milk supply. See the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine’s protocol #9 on the use of galactogogues.

My age is 33 years and my weight is 45 kg. I want to increase my weight with the help of this medication. Please advise. ## I am sorry, but this site doesn't manufacture, prescribe, nor sell any medications, this is an information only website. From what I can discover, Cyp-L contains a multivitamin complex and Cyproheptadine, which is an antihistamine that is also used to stimulate appetite, so weight gain can be caused as a side effect. Have you consulted a doctor? There are medical conditions that can cause this type of problem and it that's what is causing it, then you need medical treatment to help rectify the problem. 45kgs, which is around 99 pounds is very tiny, but how tall are you? The medication is actually called Periactin and it contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine, which is an antihistamine. I have been taking this for about 5 months now and I love it. I have always been small, around 105 pounds. I am at 129 now and loving it. It has increased my breast, and my butt and legs. Be careful because it will (the weight) will go to other places like your arms and stomach. Once you first start taking it, my experience is that it will make you SO Sleepy but once your body gets use to it the sleep will wear off. It is prescription and you take 1 pill 3 times a day. ## Hello, Tiffaney! How are you? This medication shouldn't be taken for weight gain, unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it for such use. Additionally, since the weight gain is a side effect, it will also slow down, as your body gets used to the medication and it will not continue, once you stop taking it. ...

Is Periactin safe to increase weight? Is that effect permanent weight gain or only as long as i take it? ## Periactin, which contains the active ingredient Cyproheptadine is an antihistamine, normally used to treat allergies. And, just like any medication, it does have risks and side effects, so no, just using it in attempt to gain weight is not considered safe. It can cause an increased appetite in some people, which sometimes causes them to gain some weight, however, it is usually not significant and the effects don't continue, when someone stops the medication. In addition, any method of gaining weight artificially, that doesn't involve a healthy diet and exercise can have severe detrimental effects on your health. Are there any other questions? ## Thanks for the info Verwon....

I took 52 mgs of cyproheptadine in one dose. I didn't know it caused weight gain. I don't want to gain weight just wanted to sleep. If I stop now will I still gain the unwanted weight? And when will it leave my body? ThanKs ps I only took it this once but I took a super high dose, when will it leave my body. ## Hi gabby, From what I've researched, weight gain is in fact listed as a "possible" side effect of Cyproheptadine; but this doesn't mean it happens to everyone who takes it...which is probably why we aren't really concerned about these things until they actually begin to manifest. Odds are though, that these types of side effects usually tend to subside after you stop taking what's causing it to begin with. According to the Journal of Analytical Tox...

How can I get some Periactin to help me gain weight? ## i need sum help to gain weight ## @Erica (original poster), Periactin (Cyproheptadine) is listed as an antihistamine indicated for allergies. And although one side effect of Periactin is a "stimulated appetite", side effects are mere 'possibilities' that don't happen to everyone... so I'm really curious as to why you would think to use an allergy medication to help gain weight instead of more conventional methods such as monitoring the amount of calories you eat throughout the day? Perhaps contacting a registered dietician or nutritionist may be a wise decision if you need help reaching specific goals with your caloric intake. ## Periactin ## I'm looking to gain weight what can I take ## If u have a high...

Where can I find peractin pills and how much do the pills cost? ## Because Periactin (Cyproheptadine) is a prescription medication, you're probably going to have to make an appointment with a local doctor in order to see about getting it prescribed. However I do question how an antihistamine for allergies is going to help with weight gain? As far as pricing is concerned, some sources suggest that you may end up paying anywhere from $15-$30 for a 30 day script of the 4mg tabs. There also happen to be plenty of coupons out there (including one on this site) that can help cut down the cost for you if that's a problem. Im 29 years old. My weight is 50kg, ## I'm not aware of any injections (aside from steroids) that can smaller people gain weight. Someone else in another thread here actually had a similar issue, but recommended trying Periactin (cyproheptadine). Apparently long term use of the drug can stimulate the appetite and may lead to weight gain, which is helpful for underweight people. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Periactin Details Overall, if you are a smaller person who wishes to gain weight, in my honest opinion your best bet is to follow a proper diet and exercise regimen. Even doing that, some people are just naturally small, so your weight may or may not change that significantly. I hope this info helps! ## Hi, my name is Christy. I am 32 yrs. old and have2 kids....
