After I started giving him a 150 mg. of 5htp nightly, his attitude has been much better and he is in a lot better mood. Is there any danger of him taking 5htp along with the warfarin? ## Hello, Emmy Lou! How are you and your husband? I didn't find any problems or interactions listed between them, but it is always best to let his doctor know that he's taking it, to be extra cautious. I am 19 years old and have had 4 blood clots so far due to a birth control pill. I have to go every week and get my INR levels checked. Right now I am taking 4 mg on even days and 5 mg on odd days. My levels go from 1.7 to 4.4 to 3.8 to 2.4. I really dont like going every week to get my finger poked, especially at my age. Is there a recommendation that anyone can give me, like a different blood thinner, that I can talk to my doctor about? Or just any advice will help. Thanks ## Hi Julie, I'm sorry to hear about your situation, that sounds rough. I don't have any experience with blood thinners so unfortunately I can't recommend any new ones to you, but according to live strong.com, there are foods that act as natural blood thinners. Maybe you incorporate some of these foods i...

Should I be taking Sulfameth Trimethoprim 800/160 while I am taking 4 mg of Warfarin daily? ## Were these prescribed by the same doctor, so they are aware that you are taking both? The Sulfamethoxazole in this antibiotic can cause increased plasma concentrations of the Warfarin, which can increase your risk of bleeding, so someone that is using both must be carefully monitored by their doctor, because their INR should be checked frequently.

Is it safe to take warfarin Mg-4 and Hydrocodon-acetaminophen 5-500 together on the same day? ## Taking them together may increase your INR and the risk of bleeding, because the Acetaminophen may make your Warfarin more effective. Learn more Vicodin details here. Learn more Warfarin details here. It isn't that they can't be taken together at all, but that the prescribing doctor should be monitoring your INR levels even more closely than usual to adjust your Warfarin dosage, if necessary. Is there a generic or alternative to methadone 5 mg? What options do I have for motin 800 as I had heart surgery and am now on Lasix and warfin and can no longer take motrin? I need something for inflammation! Thanks in advance. ## Hello, Ellie! How are you doing? Methadone is the generic, but there are other opiate narcotics available. The FDA does warn that they carry the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation. As to a replacement for the Motrin, you may be able to take a steroid, but only your doctor can decide what's safe for you. How long ago did you have the surgery? What other medications are you taking?
